anyone know anything about thiago carleto? Valencia signed him a few days back - he is a 19 y/o left back from brazil.
its good to see a club buying exactly what they need - we were getting raped in the left back dept with moretti's dip in form, and curro torres' injuries, so a potential wonderkid left back is great news.

has anyone actually watched him play at santos?

Urgent talks are taking place between Valencia and a major Spanish bank in a bid stave of the ever-increasing threat of the club having to declare itself bankrupt.

Los Che directors have been locked in negotiations with Bancaja in a bid to resolve the crisis that was hidden from the media glare over the summer months.

A series of payments, worth over €50 million, must be paid by Valencia before December 31 and if they do not then the problem could become irreversible, according to Marca.

The club remains paralysed while news of how bleak things really could be is awaited, but assurances will soon be sought over players wages, the salaries of nearly 300 club employees, payments to the business union (UTE) responsible for the construction of a new stadium and the payment to creditors.

Talks were held on Monday with Bancaja in a bid to hold off the freezing of the club's accounts as details began to emerge that while their is calm on the surface, beneath it is extremely serious.

Reports in the summer suggested that the financial picture at the club was bad and that one or more star names, including David Villa, David Silva or Joaquín, would have to be sold to balance the books.

Vice-president Miguel Zorío and director gernal Javier Gómez met with Bancaja officials on Monday and while both sides went in with their own positions in mind, it is believed that some leeway was sought.

It looks like the David Villa to Man Shitty rumors might be true after all.

I've seen him a couple of matches. He has a monster shot with his left foot, and maybe that's why they're calling him the next R.Carlos.

I bought him a long time ago in my Soccer manager teams, though. :D

Real Madrid's Diarrá Out For At Least A Month And A Half

The injury crisis just keeps getting worse at Real Madrid, with the latest news being that midfielder Mahamadou Diarra will be out for at least a month and a half following tests on his knee...

Christmas might be approaching but Real Madrid don't seem to be getting too much goodwill at the moment, with the injury list building up each week.

The latest player on the treatment table is midfielder Mahamadou Diarra, after he underwent tests on a knee injury that turned out to be more serious than expected.

According to AS the Malian international will now be out for at least a month and a half and along with him German defender, Christoph Metzelder, is out after injuring himself in training.

Metzelder might not have been in coach Bernd Schuster's plans as of yet but his knock, which will keep him out of the weekend match with Sevilla definitely, is another blow to the side.

The good news for Los Blancos is that three of the injured players, Gonzalo Higuaín, Arjen Robben and Fabio Cannavaro, all trained normally today. The likelihood now is that as long as they do not have any more inconviences during the week they will be fit to play in the key match this Sunday.

I've read that Madrid are getting rid of the physio (who left us for them) and he's getting the blame for it all.

Real Madrid agree deal for striker Huntelaar

Spanish champions Real Madrid have confirmed Ajax forward Klaas Jan Huntelaar will join the club in January.

The 25-year-old, who has long been linked with a move to Madrid, will sign a deal with the capital club until June 2013 subject to passing a medical.

According to the Ajax website, Huntelaar will join Madrid on January 2 for an initial 20million euros (£17m), rising to a potential 27million euros (£23m).

Madrid confirmed the deal in a statement posted on Real's official website said: ''Huntelaar is the new Real Madrid player. Real Madrid and Ajax Amsterdam have reached an agreement for the forward.

''As usual, the deal is dependent on the player passing a medical and the signing of his contract with Real Madrid. 'Klaas Jan Huntelaar will be tied to Real Madrid until June 30, 2013.''

Huntelaar is currently sidelined by an ankle injury which is set to rule him out until early 2009.

UEFA rules state that once the deal is completed Huntelaar can be eligible to be added to Madrid's squad for the Champions League, as he has only competed with Ajax this season in the UEFA Cup.

The deal, which will provide Real with cover for long-term injury victim Ruud van Nistelrooy, will earn Dutch club Heerenveen around €2.5million as part of the agreement Ajax signed when they signed the player in 2005.

"I grant Klaas Jan this transfer, though we preferred to finish this season with him," Ajax coach Marco van Basten was quoted as saying in a statement.

"It is logical when a club like Real Madrid is interested, to keep him here and at Ajax we need to focus on our future-oriented policy instead of one player."

After joining Ajax in January 2005 Huntelaar has gone on to become one of the most potent strikers in Europe, scoring 76 goals in 92 league matches for the Amsterdam team and netting 10 goals in 18 appearances for the Netherlands.

That's nice and everything, but Madrid still needs to address their defensive woes.

i have no doubt that they will fix defense and they need to do that, funny thing it's the same defense from last year although there weren't so much injuries like this season and some players were in better shape. i don't know how will huntelaar fit in but they definitively needed to buy striker. good luck to him!

Valencia Play Down Financial Crisis
Talk of financial strife at Valencia has been overplayed and ought to stop, the Mestalla-based club's president has said, while announcing that a plan to keep the club stable is in place.

Valencia have hinted that they could take legal action after accusations were made that the club were facing bankruptcy. And they have explained that there is a plan in place.

Los Che were said to be in talks with Bancaja in a bid to stave off any problems that could lead to the players not receiving wages in December. There were also suggestions that they had to pay a huge sum by the end of the year.

While the club did not deny that they are having to manage a delicate financial situation, president Vicente Soriano said that things were nowhere near as bad as the media were portraying.

"The club has a perfectly defined, economically viable plan," he told the club's official website. "The president, the directors, the executives and the employees of the club all continue in their task of guiding Valencia towards economic stability.

"We would ask everyone to continue working with tranquility and serenity."

Talk of bankruptcy and problems meeting payments to staff and creditors clearly upset the club and Soriano warned against the press running any further stories of that nature.

"There have been some terms used that have irresponsible, and for that reason we also reserve the right to take legal action if it is deemed necessary," he continued.

"We want everyone to be united in order to maintain the great form of the team and to continue enjoying the fruit of all the good work done by the players and coaching staff."

That "overrated" guy is the most expensive player Valencia ever bought + he has scored 4 goals this season and is behind Villa and Mata as the best goalscorers for Valencia this season. And let's not forget to add that he isn't starting every match. :devilfuc:

And Menon, you stay out of this. :D

Timo Hidelbrand has been relased by Valencia and now is a free agent. I think Timo is a great goalkeeper, and IMO we should go for him. But I'm 100% sure that he will go to Bayern.

Henry Says 'Merry Christmas' With €10m Divorce Settlement
Thierry Henry's marriage is finally at an end.

Barcelona forward Thierry Henry has struggled for form since moving from Arsenal to Camp Nou in 2007. One of the major reasons, according to reports, has been the ongoing turmoil over his divorce from his English wife, Claire Merry.

The two met in 2001 while the Frenchman was still making a name for himself at Arsenal, shooting an advertisement for an automobile company, in which she was involved as a model. They tied the knot in 2003 and had a daughter, Tea.

However, things went belly-up and the pair agreed to part company in 2007, with their divorce now being finalised with a payoff thought to be worth in excess of €10 million.

Merry is said to have been after more of Henry's cash, but the player's lawyer argued successfully that he was a success before the union and, therefore, her claim was limited.

The Barca ace can now focus more clearly on football, one would assume, having put the matter to bed.

An insider told The Sun: "It was settled at the end of last week. Claire is delighted.

"Neither her or Thierry wanted to go back to court as they are both now moving on with their lives. She is happy with the conclusion and she said it is close to the £10 million she wanted."
