I'm not particularly bothered who wins it as long as it's not England.

Born in Catanzaro. I guess I should be supporting.. Reggina?

Still gloryhunting. Find some streams for Serie C2 games and support your local team.

Favorites should be Egypt, Ivory Coast, Ghana and one of Nigeria/Cameroon. Tunisia are also pretty good, with some other West African sides reasonably good. Angola and Mozambique are very difficult to beat at home, and the only African World Cup representative missing from this tournament is RSA. Go figure ...

Interesting analogy which I actually kind of agree with. However, I wouldn't rule out Brazil winning it now, and losing it at home ... more of a shock, adds to the excitement.

of course football is a TEAM game and who knows what will happen by then, but in 2014:

Argentina will have messi @27, aguero 26 etc. etc. and that team that won youth cup in 2007 and olympics in 2008 will all be in there mid to later 20s (prime age).....

Brazil will of course have... pato @24, kaka only 32, diego 29, and many others i'm sure....

But irregardless the prospect of an argentina-brazil final in brazil is very possible

Yeah, its an interesting prospect.

All I'm saying is that never rule out Brazil ... especially out of Europe, even though the RSA's climate will most certainly favor the Europeans ... much more so than the West Africans, for example.

Wrong thread. This was for the CAN Angola 2010 Thread.

So you tip Germany...

Interesting... well, maybe... at least more realistic than ''Holland time''

who is gonna be Germany's star attacker? Mario Gomez? I have faith in him!

Yeah Gomez.. that guy Kroos behind the attack is really good too.

I think they will pass group stage with brazil.

Kroos is nice prospect. But Oezil and Marin I would consider more, and maybe Mueller also.

The US just announced the official host cities for their bids for 2018 and 2022.

Nashville made the cut!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!! :D:D:D

can you link the list???

we won't get 2018. If I'm to be honest, england deserves to host is first before we get it a second time..... and thats purely since they hosted in 1966, and usa had 1994...

i'm a little bias though I'd like to see it somewhere i know i can travel, makes a good excuse for a vacation :D

'No World Cup song', FA confirms

Apparently, for the first time since 1966 (oh my God it's a sign! England won the World Cup in 1966! Did you know that? Did you!? I'm sure they've mentioned it...) England are not going to have an official World Cup song this year. They say it's because they want to be "fully focused on football".

So presumably they won't be going in for the usual official World Cup chocolate bar, official World Cup drink, official World Cup burger, official Bobby Moore handcuffs, official England fans' xenophobic phrasebook or whatever other moneyspinning merchandise they usually come out with.

So bids for

2018 and 2022 world cups: Australia, belgium/netherlands, England, Japan, Usa, Russia, spain/portugal, USA

2012 only bids: indonesia, south korea, qatar

No offense, i don't think a country which never qualifies should host it. I suppose it'd be nice if it went to Qatar or Emirates or something but it's BS to give them auto-qualification. So for that reason Qatar, indonesia shouldn't be considered....

bias for time i don't want it in japan, australia or korea cause i don't like 3 and 4 am matches.

Wasn't this supposed to change like it did with the winners?

besides all the prospects, many of Germany's key players are 24(Adler,Podolski,Gomez), 25(Mertesacker,Schweinsteiger) and 26(Lahm)...

Özil is 21, and Kroos is 20 (Marin and Müller also). Defender Boateng (21) is also a nice prospect.

Either Italy, Germany or Slovakia is gonna win the W.C:D

Yes, Slovakia. Not a typo error. You better believe it. :D

if clint dempsey doesn't play the USA will most likely not get more than 1 point. Right now, charlie davies is out (huge blow), gooch is out (possibly a positive), and dempsey?

I don't even know who would replace dempsey... demarcus beasley? Does he even play anymore??? Freddie Adu? Has the hype died out yet. That plus no replacement for davies.... :-/. Can we just play with 3 GKs? Cause thats only position of depth

Beasley used to be a decent left winger for PSV. Haven't heard 'bout him a long time though.

Beasley's still with the Rangers, and Adu's with some team in Greece.

PS - Mr. Horrorporn above Seedorf's pic...that's just wrong.

I'm really worried about the African teams. They've looked very disorganized in Angola. The lack of intelligent players is telling, specifically in the middle.

African team have kinda of always had this problem. Extremely talented but tactically naive. One game in particular is Brazil vs Ghana in 06. Brazil broke Ghana off side trap on many occasions.

Europe doesn't particularly help the situation. Most of the better african CMs get converted to DM cause of there great physical qualities...

essien could be a playmaker. Mikel was an AM, but chelsea screwed him up, you still see him on occasion do some stuff. Even song w/ arsenal, you watch him play his passing/tactical sense beats his tackles....

And then again to bring it back, the infrastructure of football in Africa is just alot worse. The training kids do when younger, youth coaches etc... its just not there so they don't develop the way kids in Spain for ex. do. The best thing for most african kids is to leave at 15 and get into a proper academy...

I truly believe, in my lifetime we will see an African team in the world cup. Cup competitions can be fluky, and all it takes is a team to catch fire at right time.

Agree Milano. Except, perhaps not in my lifetime. I actually think African football has deteriorated from the last decade, if anything else.

Players like George Weah, Abedi Pele, Kalusha Bwalya ... more recently, even Jay Jay Okocha ... those guys were intelligent footballers. The knew how to make their teams tick.

Nowadays, for all the talent teams like Mali have, I'm pretty sure they'd struggle against second tier European sides. Mali ... with Kanoute, Kieta, Sissoko, Diarra, are out of CAN 2010.

And ... for all the hype of the Ivory Coast, I only saw Drogba in the 85th minute against a mediocre Ghanaian side. And lets not even go to the talent they have.

They have to put their fucking egos aside and play as a team. Remember Senegal? Now that was a team. Africa needs proper management more than anything, and DISCIPLINE (image a local coach putting Eto'o on the bench) ... learn to play as a team.

Its why the Egyptians have dominated in Africa over the years. No big name players ... but the know how to play as a team.

When I saw Kafour attempting to marshal an offside trap ... against Brazil, of all teams, I knew it was over. I mean, the backline was closer to the center of the field than their goal when not in possession
