Work begins on the Sant'Elia

Work begins at the Sant'Elia stadium. This morning the workers appointed by Cagliari Calcio have started operating ITER for the expansion of capacity up to 12,000 spectators. The President Tommaso Giulini was present at the site, accompanied by Stephen Signorelli, board member responsible for the construction and retrofitting of Sant'Elia stadium.

The President said: "I believe that my presence at the start of the work is significant and shows that the company cares about the issue stage. I should still be in the Football League television rights for the meeting, but I thought it important to be present at this time. "

Stephen Signorelli said: "Our aim is to complete the work by July 15, so that the Provincial Regulatory Commission has the time needed to verify and authorize the seating capacity of about 12,000 spectators for the match of season debut in the Italian Cup scheduled for 24 August. "

Cagliari Calcio will also use in its social profiles two new hashtag to convey their information:

#StadioSantElia, #Asseminiello.

The first will be combined with all the news regarding the situation in the Sant'Elia stadium while the second will accompany the news from the training center.

Sant'Elia, iron pact between Giulini and Zedda "In 2020, the new stadium with shops and museum"

Meeting in the system that will host the home matches of the team rossoblù Zeman: a three-year extension of the agreement between the City and Cagliari.

"An agreement that works and that will lead to the achievement of important results." These are the words of the mayor Massimo Zedda and the President of Cagliari Calcio Tommaso Giulini that gathered to take stock of the situation on the Sant'Elia stadium and its future. Together alderman of Public Works, Anna Luisa Marras, and member of the board of directors of the company rossoblu Stephen Signorelli, have indicated the steps to take to improve the Sant'Elia stadium.

After the go-ahead by the Provincial Regulatory Commission to 11,650 the goal is to reach 16 thousand people (or even to 18 thousand): the hope is to do so by 21 December of this year (the match against Juventus). The work to achieve the curve south have already begun. Not only that. Mayor and President also spoke of the new plant, a Sant'Elia that might arise in place of ruin: "There will be businesses," said Giulini, "a museum and a library on Cagliari. The goal is to do so within 2020 but hopefully we can anticipate two years. " To point this dream there was an extension of the agreement for three years waiting for the new agreement. The sudden "love" between Cagliari and the City has been seen by some as a turning point because of the relationships (or as a "spite") with the previous rossoblù president Massimo Cellino: "Absolutely not," was the response of dry Massimo Zedda.

Rome: Roma a step closer to the new stadium

AS Roma reached a crucial agreement with Rome mayor. Ignazio Marino greenlighted the development, though it’s not the end of Roma’s road towards groundbreaking. Opening in 2017?

Mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino met with AS Roma representatives on Thursday and both parties left the meeting satisfied. For Rome the now approved sporting-commercial development at Tor di Valle means roughly 3,000 jobs, though only some permanent. For Roma opening of their new 52,000-seater in 2017 is becoming more realistic.

The club was also assured by Marino the site will be well-connected to public transport network by the first game. One of Rome’s subway lines is planned to reach Tor di Valle by 2017.

Gialorossi will be given a 30-year lease of the grounds they are to build on. After that time the club will be entitled to buy the site ahead of any other parties.

This doesn’t mark the end of Roma’s road towards the new stadium. The project still has to be approved by the Lazio region authorities, though it’s expected to be a formality after Rome’s approval. It’s expected that work on site may be launched within months.

“Yesterday was a day who will be important in Roma’s history, but we work every day to write little pieces of history,” he has said in an interview with Roma Radio on Friday.

“There are still thousands of details which need to be reviewed. The project of the political-economic plan is defined and this makes us think that the next step will be positive as well.”

"€320 million earmarked for the infrastructure, of which 195 is for the public, outside the stadium. The stadium is Roma's and will be owned by Roma. What we would like to assure you is that the stadium will be indisputably connected with AS Roma.

"To clarify, there will be no stadium and no match until all the infrastructure works have been completed, probably in 2017 so that Francesco Totti will be able to play there. We're talking about works which will begin in the next 8-10 months with 3,000 jobs during the works and another 3,000 for their maintenance afterwards. I think Rome has a reason to be satisfied".

The seating layout offers three tiers for fans, allowing to hold 52,500 people with potential to increase to 60,218, should demand grow enough. The stands don’t form closed rings as the southern end, Curva Sud, is detached from others. It’s expected to draw up to 13,600 most vibrant fans. Meanwhile the west and east sides will host 50 skyboxes.

The entire stadium will be topped by a light membrane roof with panoramic giant screen. The scheme foresees groundbreaking in 2014, while construction should last more than 24 months.
