i wonder what that country is? :D
Mars? :)

nice one Beemer! refreshed my memory. i remember that match as it was yesterday. milan thrashed juve 3-1. i remember seedorf scored goal, it was a lob but lucky one, right? in 2nd half trezeguet scored one. oh gosh i miss stam. such power and speed for giant, unique:star:
I've been a Milan fan for only a few years, so that match sticks in my memory the most. It was wonderful because we gave them their first loss of the '05-06 season in such convincing fashion.

Just look at inomilan's country. Yes, philippines. All due respect to inomilan and his soccer playing days in the phils nowadays, but in the mid 90s you could be forgiven if you cry whenever you see a football match being aired. I come from Indonesia where the tv stations show Italian, English, Spanish, Dutch, Germany, Japan leagues for free. Not to mention CL or Copa Libertadores games and periodical tournaments like WC, EURO or Copa America. And suddenly there was none.

I remember the EURO 96 where we the Indonesian students relied on Indonesian TV coverage to watch the games because it wasn't aired. It might help if they have ESPN, which they did but they aired the ESPN version from the States (not ESPN Asia) who mostly covered NBA, MLS, NFL and other american sports.

And the most shocking was during WC 98, I was told it was the first time Philippines show a major soccer tournament. I remember the first game (Brazil vs Scotland) and midway through the first half they cut and break into commercial! So imagine our shock, "Rivaldo is looking up the field, tried to cross for Cafu who just went to another overlapping run. Oh wait, here comes Ronaldo to the middle. Cross from CAFUUUUU..." then BAM! cut into "This World Cup special is brought to you by (insert a brand name)..." not only that, after the commercial is finished they played that Ricky Martin song, the whole full version! I mean we were guys in the early 20s and the sight of Ricky Martin prancing around like he loves soccer and doing his "ole ole ole" when we could watch football gods like Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Dunga and co was very frustrating.

The commercial stays throughout the whole tournament except the semis and Final. The worst was the knock out round. Probably the guys from the tv station airing the match didn't know that if the game ended in draw there will be extra time and possibly PK. So after the France vs Paraguay game ended 0-0 in normal time we were waiting for the extra time and after 15 minutes there was no coverage and they started showing us rerun of some local extravaganza show. One of us called back home to Indonesia and we learned that it was already playing. We frantically called the station demanding the extra time and thankfully they aired it back, enough for us to see Blanc scored the golden goal. Well maybe other footie freak also made the call to the station but we felt we played a big part in the game being showed again :D

I hope it's better now in the Phils.

Ok, since I want to upstage Gaizka :D, my Top 10 CL games as a Milan fan (with a draw in the 10th place + some of the match threads).

10. Milan 3 Celtic 1, September 29, 2004
Shevchenko (7’), Varga (73’), Inzaghi (89’), Pirlo (90’).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwl2FL74KnQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWOboqj1lX0&feature=related (Crudelli).

10. Borussia Dortmund 0 Milan 1. December 11, 2002
Inzaghi (49’).

A draw. Both games had external particularities for me (the game vs Celtic was a day before my b-day, the b-day were I got my eyebrow bumped thanks to a friend-in the most ridiculous way-thanks to him too I was able to watch the game live, and the game vs Borussia I saw it in Mexico, only Milan game I have seen outside my country, and I was really pissed off that day :D, I have never been more pissed off) and at the same time both games had this something special. The game vs Borussia, after being trashed there just some months before in the UEFA Cup was a confirmation that we were in that CL to fight for it. While the one vs Celtic had that special last minute victories, Sheva’s b-day goal, and then one of Pippo’s classic last minute goal (thanks to Rui).

9. Milan 3 Barcelona 3, October 18, 2000.
Rivaldo (18’, 42’, 68’), Albertini (25’, 39’), Jose Mari (45’)
http://archiviostorico.gazzetta.it/...afferra_Milan_per_coda_ga_0_00101912157.shtml
I have this one on tape, well not all of it, but most of the 2nd half + the goals. Albertini was super in this match, eventhough Rivaldo stole the headlines because he scored a hattrick, Demetrio was simply on fire. His first goal was amazing. This is were my hate for Barcelona started, because it was actually a better result for us than for them, but still everyone was talking about how amazing Barcelona was (and it was only Rivaldo) and rarely anyone mentioned Albertini’s or Coco’s (I know LOL) or Gattuso’s performances.

Ok, in all honesty this one is here because it was my D-day. I had a hard Biology test (it wasn’t hard, but I had the tendency to make stupid mistakes) that was super important for my grade. We had high school elections-and we kicked their ass-. And on top of that Milan had an important game. Maldini injured and then inmediatly Nesta was send off, we were 1 man down for most of the game, and even if Club Brugge never put us in deep danger (partly thanks to Billy), man the situation was bad. And then Kaka came in and made this beauty of a goal (probably part of his top 5 best goals) in the last minutes of the game. Milan style.

Not the best game, in fact it was a very boring one, except for 3 things: Scholes making one of the 3 worse corner kicks ever (the other too, that I have seen were made by Serginho and Rivaldo both with Milan), landing on his ass, and the ball going to the stands. Maldini dribbling pass Keane (there was a youtube video, but I can’t find it), and Crespo’s header, after a wonderful cross by Cafu. And we had already beat them 1-0, so it just felt so right.

Could have ranked much higher. It could and should have even made it to the other list (the overall one), but the second leg screwed must of my feelings about this game. But we were so magnificent, those 9 minutes were wow. I remember my dad picking me up at school, and telling me about the game “Deportivo started winning, but then Milan was just…, they’re the best team in the world” (my dad has never said anything good about Milan apart of that). I still hate Ivanovic-blind linesman-cause it should have ended 8-1, and that CL would be in our hands (ok the second leg has no excuse, but still, it should have ended 8-1, and you know it).

Second part because it was too long (*blushed*)
5. Barcelona 0 Milan 2 September 26, 2000
Coco (45') , Bierhoff (71')

COCO. Coco goal and Coco assisted. Need I say more? Camp Nou, first time I see Milan against one of the “big guns” in Europe, and Francesco Coco puts on a show. And Bierhoff missed one or 2 more.

4. Manchester United 3 Milan 2 April 24, 2007.

It’s a loss. And the only loss that I would rank high. The moment that game ended, I just knew we had that thing in our pocket. I just saw the anger in our players eyes and I knew that they wanted it more, even if they had lost that game in the 90th minute (and without attacking at all in the second half), I knew they had this one in their pocket. Kaka’s goals were great, the second one making Heinze and Silvestre looking like idiots it’s hillarious and awesome. Even if at the end we let in 3 goals, I think our defense was fierce that day, it was like a precedent for what was going to happen 9 days later. And Rooney’s goal was illegal. You know, after Roma lossing 7-1, and us receiving a goal at the first 5 minutes I was fearing the worse, but as the game kept on, I was just like “we’re going to kick their ass so badly in San Siro”.

3. Manchester United 0 Milan 1 February 24, 2005.

First time they dared to call us grandpa’s (only we can call ourselves that way, ok?), and what do they do? Nothing, they were never a threat. We took the game in our hands, and moved it the way we want it. If I’m honest were wanting to go with a 0-0, but you know, we pushed a little and from a Seedorf’s shot rebound, Crespo found the net. It was one of the few times I actually enjoyed the X-mas tree formation (or better said, it was used when Carlo had no other choice, and it was used right, cause it had a really more creative balance than the one implemented in the last years with Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf-Rui-Kaka (those two being the final link which Works better than having Seedorf-Kaka or Dinho-Kaka as those 2 guys work better on the sides)).

:proud: Fiorentina had just beat us 3-1. We were uncertain about our CL future. And we had to go back to Istanbul (not the Ataturk, but the city itself, and it does bring us bad luck considering Galatazaray too). Ok, Simic played an amazing game, Rui replaced Kaka in the first minutes and did fine (his shirt got ripped off at the end), Maldini had a black eye, and Sheva scored a poker joining Simone Inzaghi, MVB, and RVN in that league. And he missed some too. In fact we missed a lot of chances in that game. And Vieri made the assist for the last one :-)D). Just perfect.

We played like crap for most of the game. Lyon started way better than us and were unlucky not to be leading. Pippo scored a crucial goal in the moment were they were pressuring us the most in the first half, but we couldn’t handle it and they draw (and were qualifying in that moment). The second half didn’t change much till Carlo did a WTF sub, putting Maldini in instead of Gattuso (if I’m not mistaken), moving Serginho as a winger. I actually said “you big idiot, I don’t want to see you coaching Milan never ever, IDIOT” (that’s the clean version). Then things started happening. All of the sudden, Sheva made this shot, that hit the bar, and I was like “noo” but the play continued, and someone between Pippo or Kaka put the ball in with just some minutes left (I scream “I LOVE YOU PIPPO INZAGHI”). Later, Sheva scored his last goal with Milan (I’m talking about the real Sheva), in the way I was afraid that we might get a goal against (someone made a pass to the kepper, and Sheva stole it). Pandemonium. Bonus points because at that very same hour, Inter was lossing against Villareal and being eliminated :D. Such a great moment to be a Milan fan :D.

LOL I remember yelling at Cafu to cross to Sheva and almost cursing him out when he waited for Ricky. :D

ah that deportivo game was immense!good call crazy4milan!will never forget it..one of the greatest team performances ever..and every Milan goal in the game was unbelievable although my personal fave is when Ricky took the cross on his knee and volleyed it in with his right foot.I was so annoyed though because i still think that if we had went through we would have won the CL that year.

Same feeling, that's why even if it should have been in a better place, it didn't make it. I still get angry just at the thought of that second leg.

I enjoyed both 1-0 victories to the fullest. Most of the talk was about how United are favourites and this and that. We went on the field and had answer to everything. Whatever they wanted to do we eliminated the thought before they invented it. Such a tactical K.O. Along with the win in Munich 2007 these are sort of a biggest wins of Christmas tree.

Funny but when I saw ManU-Barca last year I had a deja-vu of those games. Sir Alec certainly got something out of these matches. Also my hatred towards ManU melted. But only a bit.

She will make an overall list;)

C. Ronaldo (5’), Rooney (59’, 91’), Kaka (21’, 36’)
Heinze and Silvestre looking like idiots it’s hillarious and awesome.

I'd give the United's first goal to Dida as he punched it in from a position it still needed a finish. And Heinze got hit by a load of WTF from Evra. lol. LOL. ROFLMFAO-COPTERTIME!

Also let us add Weah versus Lazio

C. Ronaldo (5’), Rooney (59’, 91’), Kaka (21’, 36’) The moment that game ended, I just knew we had that thing in our pocket.

Didn't find your view from that game thread and I have to say my answer in Estonian was way better containing a victorious smile walk through a pub full of ManU fans who were delirious and tried to hassle me when I told them the truth(In San Siro? No way. You're as good as out after tonight). Still there was one interesting answer to bring out anywayz. lol.

So many opinions flying that it's probably said more than once but we have everything we need to go through. To advance onto final you need to keep your home clear and if you can't you simply don't deserve it. And if T*ttosport says
"Milan can do it" then we are already recieveing belief from Juventino's and that's something;)

Fantastic result! 2 away gols, no English side ever winning on Italian soil, us only needing a speciality 1-0 to go through... Its all sowen up amigos! :devilfuc:

Not wanting to upstage c4m, allow me to pitch in my list the most emotional and enjoyable Serie A games that I remember watching
1. 87/88 vs Napoli - Home – (4-1)
Maradona was my personal God, this game changed my mind and I switched allegation ever since.

2. 91/92 vs Foggia – Away – (2-8)
Last game of the season, Milan already confirmed scudetto winner. I was watching the game with my late grandpa (huge Dutch fans, he would support any club that has Dutch players). Milan was down 2-1 at halftime and my grandpa calmed me, “They’ll win this, just wait”. And boy we did! 7 goals in the 2nd half.

3. 92/93 vs Lazio – Home (5-3)
Further cemented Milan’s attacking force. It was like we were saying, “You score 1, we’ll get 2 past you”.

4. 98/99 vs Parma – Home (2-1)
Technically Parma was miles better. After this game I started to dream (albeit very little and unconvinced) that maybe, just maybe we could challenge Lazio and Fiorentina win the scudetto.

5. 98/99 vs Udinese – Away (1-5)
The most enjoyable game that season. They had Marcio Amoroso, the leading top scorer and we just smoked them. And my personal hero Boban scored.

6. 99/00 – vs Lazio – Away – (4-4)
After the game I was thinking, “This Sheva new boy is really good”. He owned Nesta in this game.

7. 00/01 vs Roma – Home (3-2)
Although the scoreline made it look like a very close game, Roma was never a match for us and they only scored with 2 goals (both Totti) from deadball situations (freekick and penalty)

8. 03/04 vs Inter – Home (3-2)
0-2 down at halftime. My personal greatest come back ever. Long range from Kaka and Seedorf.

9. 05/06 vs Juventus – Home (3-1)
We were very very good (and Sheva didn't play, Buffon was injured and Juve didn't field Abiatti afraid he will give us the upper hand, who was their goalie? I forgot, all I remember was his blunder for Pirlo goal). The sight of Nesta, Stam and Dida ganged up on Mutu is unforgettable. So was Maldini calming down Rino who clearly won the battle vs Vieira. Followed by next game 5-1 win vs Udinese

10. 07/08 vs Inter – Home (2-1)
Very very emotionally satisfying. Too bad we lost the next game vs Napoli and missed out CL spot

There was no game from season 94/95 until 97/98 simply because I was studying in a country where football wasn’t popular. Ocassionally (once every 4-5 months) my brother sent me video of Milan games that he taped and newspaper clipping but not watching it live was very different.

How can the 6-0 win over Merda not be a part of your top 10 list??...im not enforcing it or anything..just curious:)

Because there was no competition from Inter. It might sound crazy but whenever Milan plays I want a close game win where the score is 2-1 or 3-2 or 3-1. 4-2 is the best for me. I want that emotional roller coaster, of being afraid that they will score another goal and the game hangs in the balance, but we will still win in the end. But this Inter game was a one-way traffic and although it was no doubt satisfying, it wasn't emotionally satisfying enough for me.

The udinese game was included because we were in a race to catch up with Lazio and Fiorentina.

Not wanting to upstage c4m, allow me to pitch in my list the most emotional and enjoyable Serie A games that I remember watching

nothing more enjoyable than watching us beat the crap out of Inter with 6-0 to me... :) even by only seeing the score could be enjoyed by me :D

the rest comes after that.

Oh no you didn't. :D.

You included a favorite of mine that had to be left out: that game vs Udinese were Weah scored in his 100th game with us and Boban was fantastic.
Just the tiniest correction, the game was Weah's 99th game for Milan. The 100th game was the next game away vs Vicenza. You know I'm such a statistic freak :D

Really? Cause I even remember Weah celebrating with a shirt and all and the commentators talking about it, and I can almost guarantee you that I didn't watch the game vs Vicenza nor the highlights.

Didn't find your view from that game thread and I have to say my answer in Estonian was way better containing a victorious smile walk through a pub full of ManU fans who were delirious and tried to hassle me when I told them the truth(In San Siro? No way. You're as good as out after tonight). Still there was one interesting answer to bring out anywayz. lol.
Those two games happened when there were national power cuts, I went to classes after the game, and when I turned back I realized that the PC had burned, mayor fail. I spend the most desperate week ever because I really wanted to have more access to news about Milan.

Those were fabulous games...i still think the 4-3-2-1 is the best suited to knock out other teams in the CL stages. We completely tactically outclassed them and i remember Purple-Furgle wondering whether Cafu has two hearts after that way he ran up and down his flank at his age. And im not going to mention the fact that Crespo scored both goals or i might never stop typing. :D

Dont forget Andy Gray's overy pedantic and pseudo-precocious prediction about how Milan have no players that scare him, and that Seedorf and Ambrosini are worth nothing. That entire article of his was pulled off the website within 12 hours of Manure being banished from Milan with their tails between their legs.

You're correct and I humbly stand corrected :). I counted back from the end of the season and it turned out he didn't play vs Sampdoria, which is the next game after Vicenza. I remember that shirt pulling and how he got warm applause from Milan fans travelling to Udine when he was substituted by Ganz minutes after he scored his goal.

Hats off to you.

So has Maldini ever got a red card in a game? straight red even? I dont remember seeing him ever get sent off, but ive only been following for about 12 years, and even in that i havent watched every single milan game.
Id be realy surprised if hes actually been sent off with a straight red - if he did, it must have been VERY early on in his career.

^He received a red card in the 2003-2004 season; that has been his only red since 1999.
Haven't found anything before 1999, maybe gaizka or c4m will know.

AFAIK I remember the one vs Ancona (which is the one you mentioned). And he received a match or 2 for kicking Bierhoff the year before, but that was via video evidence. I think I read somewhere he had like 5 red cards.

He was Chimenti. Abbiati didn't play because the loan agreement included that he couldn't play against Milan.
