Moderator: Cafu will be with us in about ten minutes. You can send your questions now and we will ask him as many as possible.
Cafu: Hello guys. It is a pleasure to be here with you. I hope you will enjoy this hour and I am waiting for your questions.
gekep: Do you believe Milan has the strength to win the Champions League this season?
Cafu: Yes, I do. I think we have a very talented group of players and very experienced as well. For all the things we passed in the start of the season, I think we are playing a very good Champions League.
Moderator: Please send all your questions in English.
Carlo Ancelotti: Hello Cafu, what is your favourite match played in and why?
Cafu: I have lots of favourite matches with the clubs I have played for. If thinking about one single match, I would have to say the World Cup final in 2002. We won it and I lifted the trophy, so it was a perfect night for me.
vvv: Which opponent do you want to draw for the next Champions League round?
Cafu: You can’t choose any opponent at this stage of the competition. All of them are great sides. The one team I would not like to play is AS Roma. I have played there for so long, I admire the club and the crowd, so I don’t want to play against them.
West Ham: Hi Cafu, did you ever play futsal? What do you think of the game?
Cafu: I did play for two years when I was young. All the kids in Brazil play futsal, it is a great game. It is good for dribbles in short spaces in the football pitch. But I can’t say my game has much of futsal characteristics. Over the years my positioning has changed and my style has changed as well.
cronaldo17: whos the best player in the world at the moment?
Cafu: Well, it is hard to pick only one, there are so many guys playing so well… maybe for what he has been doing since last year I would pick Drogba. Kaká is one of the best, as well as Lampard and Gerrard.
Rockybaptiste II: Does Paolo Maldini playing on give you inspiration to keep going yourself?
Cafu: Yes, sure. He is an inspiration, not only for me, but for all the players who are 30 and think they can’t play anymore. Paolo works so hard everyday, it is such a positive attitude. His dedication is an example for all of us.
DeMax: In which club do you want to end your professional career?
Cafu: I don’t know! I really don’t know. To be honest, I haven’t decided yet. Maybe I will end my career here in Milan, but there is a possibility of going back to Brazil. And in this case, if I go back to Brazil, I don’t know to which club yet! I am still thinking, basically.
ash: How do you like your nickname - 'il pendolino'?
Cafu: I love it! I really like this nickname. They gave it to me when I arrived in Rome and it had everything to do with my position. I was almost a right winger, instead of a right back. Even today people call me “pendolino” in Milan.
phil gee: Are you impressed with how well PSV defender Alex has been playing?
Cafu: No, I am not, because I knew him already. I played with Alex in the Seleção and I knew already he was a great defender and with a lot of potential. Someone who knows him less well, however, might be surprised and think how come he can be so fast with that big body. He is amazing.
Nesta_13: Cafu, what u think about Dunga as the coach of Brazil National team - ur ex team mate?
Cafu: As a teammate, Dunga was a great man. He was a warrior and transmitted a lot of energy and inspiration to the rest of the team. As a coach, it seems he is in the right path to bring great results for Brazil. Despite his lack of experience, he is doing a good job.
celtic67: do you rate kaka as the best player in the world
Cafu: Yes, one of the best of the world. It is a pleasure to play with him.
Bohumil Hrabal: what is the most unhealthy thing you have eaten this week?
Cafu: Well, the unhealthiest thing to eat before a match is pasta “a carbonara”. But I didn’t do it! Probably my little escape this week was one dessert I had… Passion fruit mousse! It is typical in Brazil…. Delicious.
Raul: hi cafu, what's your opinion about tomorrow's Nyon draw for the Champions League? What do you think is the easiest draw for Milan? are you affraid of someone?
Cafu: As I said before, it is impossible to choose an opponent, all of them have proved to be fantastic sides, good enough to be among the final eight. We are not afraid of anyone, but we respect all of the teams still involved.
DannyMurphy: Out of the remaining players in the Champions League, which would you have playing alongside you at Milan?
Cafu: Drogba!
vicky: hello! I just want to mention what an honour it is to be able to speak to you. What is your favourite formation? Do you prefer attacking football or defensive play? And do you have any comments on Barcelona's form for this season?
Cafu: When I am playing home, I think the best formation is 4-3-1-2, when I am playing away I like the 4-4-2. I like it with two strikers, it is much better for us, the backs. Of course I am 100% in favor of attacking football, however you can’t forget to defend. Maybe it is a little bit what happened with Barcelona this season. They forgot that they needed to defend to win.
West Ham: Which defenders do you admire? What do you think of Jamie Carragher?
Cafu: There are so many…. Roberto Carlos, Ashley Cole, Maldini, Terry, Alex, Luisão, Lucio…. I can give you a huge list of defenders I admire. I like Jamie Carragher as well. He’s got much better later, he’s been developing and raising his level a lot during the last years.
zouzou: CAN U GIVE 3 PIECES OF ADVICE TO THE YOUNG PLAYERS TO BE SUCCESFULL IN THEIR CAREER
Cafu: My three pieces of advice are: 1) never get even close to drugs 2) don’t think you are a superstar and 3) respect your profession.
rafael: tell us about your charity organisation? and how is it going?
Cafu: It is doing great, but we still need some partners, some business men willing to help. We help 380 kids in the poor neighborhood where I grew up nearby Sao Paulo. We help more than 3900 people every month, offering several professional courses, in hair dressing, arts, computers…. We wanted to get bigger, to help more people, bring education and hope for those in need. But we need more financial assistance as well.
Nesta_13: What are your hobbies?
Cafu: Basically I like to watch movies, DVDs with my family.
MARINA: Who was your idol when you started playing football, and who is your idol now?
Cafu: As a kid, Pelé was my idol. During my career I admired Maradona, because I saw him playing and had the opportunity to play some matches against him.
Salih: Cafu Milan are playing Inter this week - how do you feel about the game?
Cafu: It is a huge game, but at the same time it is normal for us, South American players. We are pretty used to big derbies. In Sao Paulo, for example, all the games involving Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Corinthians and Santos have the same level of tension and importance. Here, I see it as a tough game, a good result would bring us tranquility for the rest of the season. But it won’t change our situation in the table.
ole: If AC Milan has to play Liverpool again this year, do you think Milan will have the strength to have a win over them?
Cafu: I promise you we will do everything to beat them and try to forget that defeat. What happened in Istanbul was amazing, unbelievable, one of those things that won’t happen again. I am kind of a cold guy and I don’t suffer much because of the past. But it would be obviously special for us to meet Liverpool again and beat them this time.
istanbul2005: can you describe the feeling when shevchenko missed the crucial penalty in istanbul?
Cafu: It is hard to describe. It was like a cold water shower, as if a piano had fallen onto your head. I was destroyed, but it is part of this great game called football.
Cafu: Well it is time to go. I wanted to wish a great day to all women, as today is their day! Without women we, men, would be nothing! All the best for all of you, it has been a pleasure. Bye!!
