Abate can see a trophy winning season as he urges the team to continue climbing the table after pushing Juventus down into third...
Milan's Ignazio Abate has urged the team to continue on the right track after they waltzed into second place to move within seven points of league leaders Inter.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar got the Rossoneri out of jail against Catania as his late double settled the affair. It's onwards and upwards at Milanello as Leonardo's men continue to show their strength.
"It was not an easy game as Catania played well, but in the end we always had control of the game," Abate told Tuttomercatoweb.com.
"We were not incisive in the first half but then the two goals from Huntelaar broke the deadlock. I am really happy for him as he has been working hard in training."
Despite the seven point gap with the cugini from across town, Abate insists his side will fight on to make up the deficit and challenge for the title.
"We are all united and we will never give up until the end. I am happy to be part of such a fantastic team," he added.
"We know that if we make an effort we will be able to achieve something good this season."

Hes more than a team player. For a winger that thats trying as a FB for not more than a few months hes doing very well defense wise. I know it was just catania but he demonstrated some very solid defending. On the attacking side he needs to improve but his crossing is very good so far. Please leo fuck off with oddo! Give abate more chances.
“Antonini and Abate contributed a lot for this result. I’m happy for them, for all our young players who are doing well around in Italy; in Zurich they will be our full-backs.”
He will def. get more playing, at least I think so.
Don't forget that Oddo is injured, so first choice would be Abate I would say. He has proven that he can play great as a FB, so I would let him play there, especially as long as Oddo is injured. He should get better with more matches played.
And here's a quote from acmilan.com, something Galliani said:
That is great I think, let them play the CL, why not, in Zürich Oddo will still don't play due to injury and Zambro will be suspended. They deserve to have their chance in the CL, I hope they will do well there.
I think we need to have attacking players against Zurich so I would say Antonini and Abate are best starts vs Zurich
We don't have any other choice since Oddo is out due to injury and Zambrotta is suspended. I think a dream scenario for this season would be for Abate to prove himself at RB and replace Oddo in the starting XI, and for Antonini to do something similar at LB. I think Abate has been far more impressive than Oddo, except for that shirt tugging incident against Marseilles. If nothing else, he and Antonini provide a lot more pace than what we have seen from Oddo and Zambrotta, so they can make up for mistakes when they go forward unlike Zambrotta, who is getting slower and slower. I really think Abate has been fantastic in defense for someone that has virtually no experience at the position. He's stupid at times (Marseilles and Napoli incidents), but he's pretty young, so that it is to be expected. I think we should let he and Abate get more playing time at RB and LB respectively before January, so we can decide whether or not we need to bring in an LB.
i am sory for him, first he will loose his place to Becham, then Krasic will bench him for good.
He is not a right back, dont get anu delusions about that, he is not a defensive type of player, puting him in that position is improvising and in football improvisations like that lead to cases like Jankulovski-he will be good for a game or two, but once he fucks up its gonna be fucked for good.
Anyway i wouldt want to see him out od Milan any time soon, he is a fighter and he will be useful in the years to come
1 bad example doesn't conclude a theory of football.
The contrary of ur example is the greatest ever Wingback
Marcus Cafu who adapted from midfield to Right wingback.
The question is does he want to?

Beginning of a season like, Ignazio Abate, certainly will remember for long. The player, now become the owner nell'undici of Leonardo, is expressing at levels high and even across the Channel to the big clubs seem to have aimed the headlights at him. Especially since, according to rumors TuttoMercatoWeb collected by the player part of the plans of Manchester United and Manchester City: The former have a treasury that can use during the January, while the sheiks are trying to strengthen the squad despite numerous graft surgery June.

Oddo's injury has launched the fast lane of the right wing Rossoneri, and now, Ignazio Abate has no intention of stopping, "I have always tried to do right now is my time and I have to make the most of. Anyway even before I played both feel less confidence Mister ". Words of hope for the permanence of Gattuso in Rossoneri: "I hope to stay because it will give us a big hand. Rino is important for all of the dressing room and will also do well on the field once recovered from injury."
i love the guys who don't think Abate can play RB... really how many times does this guy get beaten for pace or physically??? not many that I've seen. He was in a fantastic battle with Lavezzi and won almost every one. He came on against marseille when Niang was dominating Oddo and nullified that threat even though Niang is very physically strong.... How many 23 year-olds who have never played RB before can do this???? Yeah, he makes the occasional nervy mistake from time to time, but that will come with more PT. Abate has been great in literally every single game he's played at RB this year and those of you who are selling him short really must not watch Milan games. If we keep playing Abate at RB, he will get more comfortable there, he will start to chop out the silly errors, he will get better at knowing when to attack and defend, and he will grow more composed on the ball. His pace, strength, and mentality are all fantastic, and to be honest his instincts are top notch.... he is always the one who helps pull off a last ditch tackle or comes in to save our CB's asses. The stuff you can't teach and can't really improve at he already has in abundance, which is why I think he'll do quite well here. The improvements he has to make are not massive and he can definitely do that.
milannews and tuttomercatoweb rumours say City and United interested in Abate
Hope B&G won't do anythin stupid and think of giving up any of our youth products for money.

They will never sell players unless they are desperate to leave & cannot convince them to stay or if they are sending the club into desperate trouble by being unable to afford them & even then they will sort out what is best for the player & Milan & even try & get round it by trying things to keep them.
Abate fits into neither category.
What if Man City came knocking with 20 mil + offer Abate a 3 mil contract. What would you do if you were Galliani?
