Don't understand this "Italy need us back in the CL" sentiment. Our biggest achievement since winning CL was 1 lousy quarter final. Same in europa league. Got beaten by all kinds of peasant clubs. Got thrashed by barca, manu, arsenal, atletico. Did we even top the CL group once after 2007? Even got knocked out of EL group stage ffs.

people remember milan when was good/great but i think its more about stability as milan can have with normal management and owner.
stability like other clubs in italy dont show - i mean even good squads like lazio, roma, napoli (atalanta not to mention) never make step forward to be better.

roma was in ucl year after year... did they make team better overall? no, they sold salah and replace him with under, kluivert etc shit players. what about nianggolan, strootman, gervinho, ddr... today they have miki, pastore and pedro

its like watching berlu milan in lower scale

napoli had a real team under sarri with gonzalo and hamsik and then what??
hamsik left, later gonzalo... team for next years relied on mertens, insignie, callejon, always injured and average milik and no much other offensive quality from midfield. this players were not good enough for winning scudetto or coppa and wont ever do anything in ucl ko. they didnt qualify to ucl and then decide for some serious changes ...

just if you want to be successful you need to develop your squad over and over again. its not mean buying stars each transfer window but just look on your team overall and make it better - better subs, replace ageing players, keep balance between proven players and players that didnt win anything.
look on barca when messi cant win alone match, real when they didnt change players because they are a winners, juve with lacking quality and ageing players. this teams with money just stop develop their squads in smart way.

We didn't do that well in team building either. Sold kaka and replaced him with washed up dinho. Sold ibra and silva at their peak for peanuts. Bought matri to lead our Frontline while we were still in CL.
Recently we are playing well and maybe we could do better than what juve and inter are doing right now. But let's not kid ourselves, some of the teams dropping from CL would be considered favorites to win EL ahead of us.

We were missing a lot of players.... Leao, Rebic, Zlatan. We didn't have Hauge and Dalot. On top of that, we played every 3 days and we were still at the start if the season. So yeah that explained why we almost got knocked out

Uhmm but they are? And we prevailed against Rio Ave? As well as winning both our games in our Europe games? And to top that of with winning 5 out of 6 games in the league so far? While Inter is last in their group? And Lazio are currently losing 1-0 to Zenit? And Atalanta third while getting massacred 5-0? And Juventus not doing anything special so far in the group, winning vs someone like Kyiv and losing at home in an awful style to Barcelona? What?
