Yeah the 3-man line is what we absolutely don't have today. Roma + Paletta + reliable CB maybe, Gomez can be that CB one day but I don't see him today as the 3rd CB. And the other CBs we have are crap (Zapata, Ely).

I'd switch Bona & Sosa and replace Sosa by Mati.

Furthermore I'd replace Suso by Calabria.

And we still don't know if Locatelli is going to explode like Donna last season or if he needs to be integrated in our line-up very very graduadly and wirhout the pressure it brings playing as regista.

All that said this is a very Fifa-ish formation. I would never ever try it if I was Montella with the players avaiable and all the things you have to consider (yellow cards, suspensions, injuries, tired or out-of-form players who need rotation etc.), we simply don't have enough players and the right players to play it. As it stands, 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 are the only two formations I can see us play on a regular base.

At the moment Zapata is better than Gomez, with all the respect for Gomez but he has disappointed me.

Even Alex and Mexes were better than Gomez.

Gomez is only better than Vergara, Ely and Zaccardo. That's all.

Although it would have been ideal if Gomez had became an instant starter, it's clear he needs time. I will reserve my judgement as I have not seen enough of him yet. It might be next season before we see what he is capable of.
