Dont kid yourself, he was shit and that's why we got him for cheap

It was always going to take time for him or any player to adjust to a new role.

Look at how shit Bonaventura was when he was moved from LW to LM....just a few yards away....or look at how shit Suso was at CAM etc.

Don't be so quick to just call someone shit for playing completely a different role.

I still think this guy should be played as a LB / LWB and not a CB, his long passes are too good to have him as a CB.

Funnily enough, Roma in the center of those back three did way better than Bonucci. Now I'm wondering how they will do against Juve. Another solid game like this and it will be difficult for Bonucci to regain his starting spot.

I'd try him out as an LCM and try to sign a pacey LWB in january.

he can pass really well, makes good movements, the only concerning thing about him is his lack of pace which won't be that much of an issue at CM.

we've seen it done before with LBs who are good technically like alaba and raphael guerreiro

he's definitely a better passer than lazio cardaccio and kessie

Couldn't care less about his lack of pace.... but having a guy who can cross and score from the LB spot is priceless.

he has good controll, and a nice left foot, but he becomes a bit predictable because he can't do much with his right foot

i wouldn't like someone like that in midfield, unless it's something like DM or double pivot

I don't think he is as slow as people say....I just think in general he lacks the dynamism needed to play as a wingback where you need to at least be able to run with the ball sometimes.....and the legs to cover the entire flank

His right foot is actually really good for a left back.....have you guys seen some of the switches of play he makes with his right foot when we are building from the back?

He makes good runs off the ball and has great crossing both early and when he gets to the byline and good passing when he moves into the half space in the final third. Certainly not dynamic enough for a CM though.

He reminds me of the left back version of Oddo....not the fastest or most dynamic, but great at arriving late to receive the ball to play great crosses, and a set piece specialist

He reminds me of a left back version of Dani Alves: good quality, good left foot, poor pace

He can be great if the team works to exploit his qualities and cover for his flaws

are you saying dani alves has poor pace? because 34 year old dani alves is clearly faster than RR.

I think RR is best suited to be a LB, to be a proper LWB you need to be an engine..which is why i suggest milan sign a quick LWB and try out RR at LCM with monto and kessie.

IMO RR is better suited as an attacking-minded wingback than the one in the defensive role as Montella often likes to play (last season it was DES playing that unthankfull role). His dictating, orchestrating, distributing and crossing is way too good to waste him too much on defensive duties who, anyway, aren't his strengths.

His skillset is quite unique. That's why he often was on the radar of many top clubs in Europe. He suffered a poor managed Wolfsburg. He came here and he suffered a poor coached Milan. But although Montella really put effort into make former worldclass players like Bonucci or Biglia look like lost school boys RR always was amongst the better ones. All this at 24 years only.

Look guys, once this club is coached by a proper coach again you will see the real RR who not too long ago made even CL winning Real Madrid seriously thinking about purchasing him.

This is a post which contains too much common sense and reasonable thinking. I agree

RR is not going to get faster even if they hire pep as coach, no one is criticizing his skill set, he just lacks the engine to be a wing back.

Yeah, doesn't really make sense to play one of the few players that can cross as CB

Especially when we have a lot of CBs.
