So bids for

2018 and 2022 world cups: Australia, belgium/netherlands, England, Japan, Usa, Russia, spain/portugal, USA

2012 only bids: indonesia, south korea, qatar

No offense, i don't think a country which never qualifies should host it. I suppose it'd be nice if it went to Qatar or Emirates or something but it's BS to give them auto-qualification. So for that reason Qatar, indonesia shouldn't be considered....

bias for time i don't want it in japan, australia or korea cause i don't like 3 and 4 am matches.

we qualified in 1990 you bitch.

Besides we dont want to host the world cup, we have enough problems.

and for the record, U.A.E > South africa.:o

hes in scotland now. where players go to die

No they don't. David Weir is never dying. Ever. Russell Latapy flat refused to die as well. And (in case any of our Canadians actually pay attention to their national team ;)) Richard Hastings is still knocking about the lower leagues at the age of 657.

Beasley isn't playing much, but Maurice Edu has got a run in the team because of a couple of injuries to Rangers' usual hatchet men in midfield. He is fucking dreadful. Looks out of his depth in the SPL, which must be embarrassing.

I'm feeling really good about this summer right about now.

I just hope Deuce's injury isn't as serious as reports are saying. Not having Charlie for the WC is bad enough, but no Deuce....we're oh so screwed.

played against maurice edu in youth cups. He was a monster @15 playing u18 against me. Was actually intelligent, which is a rarity among american players (american football is wannabe british, which should let u know skill level... run faster, learn to dribble later). Anyway he was really good in MLS and really only was there about a year before rangers game. At that time, he got national team call ups and was looking positive.... IMO better than michael bradley, ricardo clark and other CMs. Then he got hurt and missed a long time.

He just got back from injury... i think he's been out over 6 months w/ tear to knee ligament, so i'll take a pass on him being 'out of his element'. I wanna watch him though, he's not REALLY a defensive mid, but he's not an attacking player.... fro what i've heard he's always been hard for patrick vieira, worse a vieira arsenal jersey under his jersey in high school for luck or something like that

World Cup 2010: France Star Thierry Henry Walks Free After Handball Against Ireland
Jan 18, 2010

Football's world governing body, FIFA, has made the decision not to punish France striker Thierry Henry for his handball in the World Cup qualifying play-off against Ireland on November 18, 2009.

The Barcelona forward helped France past Ireland by setting up William Gallas for the crucial French goal after controlling the ball with hand. As a result, the FIFA disciplinary committee opted to open an investigation.

"At its meeting on January 18, 2010, the Disciplinary Committee reached the conclusion that there was no legal foundation for the committee to consider the case because handling the ball cannot be regarded as a serious infringement as stipulated in article 77a) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code," an official statement on the FIFA website reads.

"There is no other legal text that would allow the committee to impose sanctions for any incidents missed by match officials," the statement concluded.

Oh, thank goodness! What a relief!

Lippi visits Milan and Nesta

Italy Coach Marcello Lippi visited the Milan training ground today and admits he is considering Alessandro Nesta for the World Cup.

Recent excellent performances have prompted a media campaign for Nesta and Rossoneri teammate Massimo Ambrosini to earn Azzurri recalls.

“Ambrosini? I watch television, keep track of the games and in June I will make my decisions. The same goes for Nesta and indeed everyone else,” said Lippi.

“Aside from the results, I note the pleasure that Milan have in taking to the field, the quality of their football and the enthusiasm running throughout the squad.”

Nesta has been asked about coming out of retirement for the 2010 World Cup, but claimed it would be “unfair” to come in and take the place of someone who had worked for qualification.

The Italy manager was at the Milanello training ground today and had lunch at the complex just a few days before the derby.

“It’s part of my work as the Coach of the Nazionale to visit and speak to various tacticians and players,” he told Milan Channel.

However, the former Juventus boss got a subtle dig in at Serie A leaders Inter, who train at the Appiano Gentile ground.

“I will go to see other clubs too. I won’t be going to Appiano for obvious reasons, there aren’t many Italian players there.”

USA are getting killed by Honduras right now. 3-0 in the 68th. :( obviously the regular first teamers aren't there but still.

I just hope USA doesn't meet Italy in the WC again. I hate having that feeling of mixed emotions regardless of the result. Idk which would be sweeter: the Azzurri repeating to tie Brazil in total WCs or USA pulling off the surprise of the century.

It ended up 3-1. In fairness, since the 17th min, they did play down a man, plus no Europe based players. Oh well, at least I got to see a shirtless Jonny Bornstein.;)

We play a friendly against the Netherlands March 3rd, should be interesting.

Terrible news. His one of the best players in Latinamerica right now, perhaps one of the few worthy of America, and has been great for Paraguay. Hope it doesn't get worse and that he is able to recover.

No idea were to post this ,guess il post it here since his in the squad for the world cup :

According to several reports from Mexico, Paraguayan international Salvador Cabanas has been shot in the head after visiting a bar in Mexico City with some of his friends and relatives.

The incident reportedly took place at 5.30 PM local time. Cabanas got involved in a bar-fight which eventually culminated in a shoot-out in the bathroom area of the bar.

The 29-year-old was immediately rushed to Los Angeles hospital by ambulance. It is not yet known how serious the injuries are, but the report suggests that Cabanas' condition is critical and that the Paraguay star is fighting for his life.

America president Michel Bauer stated that Cabanas was conscious until he was given anaesthesia ahead of the operation. The bullet is reportedly still inside the player's head. Furthermore, Bauer categorically denied rumours that Cabanas is actually brain dead.

According to official information from the attorney general of Mexico City, Miguel Angel Mancera, two people were arrested after the shooting.

Cabanas currently plies his trade at Mexican outfit America and is an integral part of Paraguay's national side.

I don't think he passed away.. can't find anything confirming that on the net.
He's in critical condition, I hope he will be able to pull through.

Fingers crossed.

Yet again, you've got to hand it to goal.com. Saying he's dead, and describing the incident as a "shoot out" - I thought he just got shot.

He underwent surgery, but they couldn't remove the bullet. He's still critical and apparently it all depends on how he evolves during the next 48-72 hours.

I'll keep you guys posted whenever something else comes out. Hope he recovers, great player.
