Set Pieces

I cant even portray how AWFUL they are. Considering we are the champions of Italy our set pieces arent even Serie C standard. We are supposed to be one of the best and elite teams in the world, yet we cant fucking do a normal set piece? WTF IS UP WITH THAT????:eek::eek:

My throat has become sore shouting at the screen at Seedorf not to take short corner kicks. Cant the idiots see we royally suck at them? Cant they fuckin' see that we are not fuckin' Barcelona?. How many times this season has short corners ACTUALLY worked out for us?. Allegri seriously needs to address this in the summer.

Our free kicks aint top notch either and we hardly ever get them on target unless it is directed at the goal. We seriously need to find a player who is a FK maestro this summer (hence why I want Honda)

And then there is our defending from set pieces. Altho it has improved a little, there are still way too many moments when we completely switch off while defending from corners and FKs. We NEED to address this...

We NEED a NEW LB

It has obviously been blatantly obvious for a couple of seasons now that we need new FBs. And while Abate has made the RB position his own, LB is still a position in DESPERATE need of attention. If this game has made anything clear, it is that we would not win ANYTHING come next season with Zambro as first choice LB. WE NEED a new LB and WE NEED it NOW. No more fodder like Didac (hope he still turns out good), Mattioni, Montelongo anymore.....

We NEED NEW Creative Midfielders

The lack of imagination in this team is just plain horrifying. It says it all really when a 34 yr old DM Ambro is one your most creative midfielders on the pitch. The strikers were clearly starved of service and while Seedorf performed decently enough, against REAL opposition we would have been torn a new one.

Other than LB, this summer we HAVE to concentrate on getting atleast a couple of creative midfielders for the team (one is NOT enough), otherwise expect yet another early exit in the CL.

We have to LEARN TO PLAY THE BALL TO FEET

This issue somewhat relates to the creative midfielder problem, but still....we play way to many long balls, most of which never manage to find their target or find someone who is heavily marked and cant do anything with it. I really believe this team is capable of playing short, stringed passes (just look at the Parma game) but we HAVE to make it a habit, instead of resorting to long balls when things aint working. We really need to work on our possesion and passing in tight spaces...

More QUALITY depth

Yes we have depth, but is it quality? I hardly think so.

The likes of a 34 yr old Oddo, a pathetic Bonera, a noob Sokratis, a 35 yr old Seedorf, rookie Merkel and Strasser, a clueless Antonini could hardly be considered as quality depth.

We need decent quality RB backup

We need decent backup midfielders (could probably do without tho)

We NEED decent quality CB backup

And yes, we need a NEW goal poacher it seems. Other than Pato and Ibra (who dissappears way too much) we have a 39 yr old Inzaghi as our only other option. Yes we are spoilt for strikers, but we are still need of a striker who can guarantee goals. I honestly dont know how we will manage to work that out (Pippo would probably have to leave:cry:) but we need to give this situation atleast some serious thought

Well that's it from me Ladies and Gents. Please feel free to add to this thread as to what Milan NEED to FIX before next season arrives...

Analysis by position:

GK: Abbiatti was spectacular throughout the year. I did not see too much of Amelia or Roma to say if they are decent.

RB: Abate improved as the season progressed. I do not think he has a clear backup.

CB: Nesta and Silva need to be kept. I think Yepes too. Papa seems too raw.
Bonera has to go same as onyewu. Legrotaglie has played I think 10 minutes or so.

LB: Vila was supposed to be the left back for the champions this year but never played. Antonini regressed when Dinho left the club. Zambrotta need to be kept as a backup. Jankuloski and Oddo need to go. Antonini too and maybe Vila too.

MD: Gatusso, Ambrosini, Boateng, Van Bommel, Pirlo, Seedorf, Merkel, Urby, Flamini.
Gatusso played really great the whole year. Ambrosini was injured most of the season. Prince really impress me every game. Van Bommel was the perfect nexus between defense and offense. Pirlo same as Ambrosini. Seedorf was immense against Inter and had three more goals in the 3 next games; however, I think his performance was extremely average or below average. Merkel had some good games but not great. Urby did not see much of him to impress me. Flamini was a nice player for the midfield, a little chaotic player with a unlimited stamina. Boateng, Merkel and Urby will be kept. Van Bommel as well. Seedorf, Pirlo, Ambrosini and Gatusso, I need will be let go. Maybe Gatusso will stay one more year. We need 1 or 2 creative midfielders and one defensive midfielder.

FWD: Ibra, Pato and Binho must be kept. Cassano needs to get fit to try to stay with the team. Pippo? I do not really know. Right now, I would say Super Pippo for life.

Left back is a serious issue. We need a midfielder that the team feed from. Ibra comes to the midfield way too much. Sometimes Abate, ZAmbro or Antonini sent crosses to the area and there was not a forward inside the area. Depth and youth in all areas is need it.

In all seriousness though, whatever Ash posted is spot on, just the wrong day to do it :D

Our set pieces have been extremely disappointing, can anyone tell me how many free kicks and corner goals we have scored this season. Im a bit too lazy to search it but im pretty sure its less than 4 in either category.

Yup,also i dont remember 4 goals in total let alone in each category.

To try and be a bit serious:

The possible arrival of Taiwo will no doubt strengthen our defense. But will it strengthen our offense? His not really known for his amazing crosses,so the addition of at least one really creative midfielder like Ganso is going to be imperative.

The arrival of Mexes will make our defense rock solid next year.Between him,Nesta &Silva will probably have one of the best defenses in Europe.I really hope his going to reach his potential with Milan though,if Nesta wont be able to continue in 2012/2013 the current Mexes is not someone worthy of our first 11.

I would really like it though if we signed Coentrao out of nowhere.A Berlu gift would be amazing in the form of a attacking full back.Him and Ganso would pretty much make us at least Champions League semi finalist ,if we dont implode or something.

The next best thing if we dont get an attacking full back is to find two really good midfielder`s.Ganso and one of Nasri or Sahin are realistic targets and in our budget, lets hope G still has some magic left in that tie.

The attack is fine as it is.Pato,Ibra,Bihno,Cassano &Pippo should be more then enough granted we have the proper players to back them up(read above).

So in my eyes a fixed Milan as Ash and pretty much everyone else wants is :

----------------------Abbiati-----------------------
------Abate---Nesta/Mexes--Silva----Coentrao/Taiwo-----
---------Boateng------MVB----Sahin/Nasri/Ambro/Flams/---
--------------------Ganso------------------------------
--------------Ibra-------------------------------------------
---------------------Pato-----------------------------------

As for squad players/bench players,im not really sure whos going ,but so far from what i can gather the likes of :

Marcheti,Mexes,Ambro,Flamini,,Merkel,Straser,Pippo,Cassano,Bihno ..will be there, and thats not to shabby in my books.Just a few more quality back ups and were good to go.

Obviously I understand that the timing of the thread is pathetic, but this was something I Just HAD to get off my chest...

Turning to more serious notes, I agree with Az. As for a midfield backup I would love Poli...

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt Taiwo a good crosser?

And for the FK dilemma: HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So y'day two of our main issues were solves.

1) New LB, :star:Taiwo:star:

With a bit of defensive work with Tassoti he can become a very solid player.

2) Set Pieces,

TT takes freekicks, corners and PKs for Marseille. Of course bar the PKs he can take the rest and no more short or weak corners from Robinho

Yes Taiwo takes FKs, but his FKs pretty much consist of blasting them in. We need someone with FK TEchnique...

It's not the corner takers that's been bad (although Binho has been :fp:). It's our general plan for corners. 50% short passes which leads to nothing. 49% overhit. 1% good.

When he blasts them in theres usually a rebound which leads to an easy chance. For now I'd take power over technique because Binho, Pato, Inzaghi even Flamini are good at poaching :D

So far it looks like we fixed every problem with only the first week of the Transfer Season. We got Taiwo to fix our left back problem and added more depth to our bench with the signings of Mexes and Paloschi returning. I think Merkel is a very good player and hopefully he will get many more opportunities, Im not too sure about Strasser our other young midfielder but from the few games i saw him he looked strong and tireless. Hopefully we get one more quality Midfield signing and we should be set. If we sign Astori that would be another good signing to strengthen our backline.
