I've been a full advocate of 3-5-2 early this season, but its clearly not working out for us. Part of it was on Montella, but part of is our players simply don't "get it".

We should play the first team here, not reserves though. They need a practice game, in a 4-5-1/4-4-2

I would personally prefer a 4-4-2 like this:
