I’m just trying to be fair here but for the price (wasn’t it like 18 mil?) most of us were pretty happy with this signing. Looked pretty good at the time.

He is really killed by his lack of pace, he has a good foot but he doesn't get into attacking positions and back fast enough so he is more and more put into the defensive LB/LCB mold but he is no Gabriel Heinze.
If I remember correctly when he came out it was the buff phase when many players put on a lot more of mass than we see nowadays, maybe those times made him look better? I don't know, just a theory.

@SkySports
Wigan Athletic have accepted a bid of around ?2m from Sheffield Utd for left back Antonee Robinson.

We almost signed him for 10 mil in January. Since we're getting rid of Rodriguez for only 3 mil, we should have signed Robinson as a backup to Theo on the cheap.

Didn't the transfer window close while he was signing for us in Milan and we blamed it on a heart arrhythmia problem?

The heart problem was real but we didn't have enough time to perform further tests.

RR is an old style LB. Full backs these days are failed wingers who help defend. They thrive in the space afforded them on overloads to create more pressure in the attacking phase of the game.

RR doesn't have the pace or attacking skills to do that job.

I thought he started out really well with us. It was nice to finally see an outside back that knew how to cross the ball. But unfortunately that isn't a skill the modern game values as much as it used to.

Look at Alexander Arnold for example, crossing is one of his best qualities, but he rarely has to use it.

Can work for a team that plays 3 at the back. You'd have to retrain him a bit but it's possible. Could be a bargain if he's intelligent.

1. Last year of contract
2. 28 in 2 weeks, he's not young anymore, 0 potential, what you see is what you get
3. Slow
4. Sucks going up, okay defensively
5. Wages too high for small teams, not good enough for a big team

Just sell for 3m and save on wages

But he brings the bread home .

Seriously, I had so high hopes in that transfer. But it all went so wrong. Remember vividly how after some very well played seasons at Wolfsburg and a tremendous world cup in Brazil even Real Madrid showed some interest in purchasing him.

He was never fast, but looked like he could cross from anywhere in midfield directly on to your strikers head. FK specialist too and defensively so solid that he could even control Messi in his 2014 form.

There was a point and time in football history where RR looked like one of the best LBs around, believe it or not.

MN: Distance between offer and demand still needs to be bridged between Torino and Milan for Rodriguez. Torino offer €3M while Milan ask for €4M. The clubs will speak again in the coming days

Only €1m difference, but great to see us returning the favour by playing hardball with Torino.

It's bizarre someone in this world thinks RR is worth 3m

Not to mention Suso being worth 25m

Maldini is a saint
