Plus, he's becoming like Beckham (who had no business being nominated for the Golden Ball, but I digress) in terms of coasting on his reputation brought on by endless media plaudits, though that's no fault of his own. No less an authority than Juve fans have said that he's not been at his best the past couple seasons. (Visit the forums at juventuz.com.) If Dida were on the sidelines injured right now while Buffon was currently between the posts during Juve's hot start, I wouldn't be calling Dida the best in the world either. Bottom line, you're not the best if you're not playing. I'm sure I have a snowball's chance of changing your mind, but to me that's just the way it is. ![]() ![]() |

This thread's dedicated to Dida ![]() Even if you think he's not 2nd best, let alone the best in the world, or how do you rate him,it's your business. For us ,true milanisti,he's a hero, he delivered, and still does. So, stop 'monkeying around' with your dream of having cudiccini, or kahn in Milan, it's annoying. If you wanna talk about 'fat Kahn', cech, or cudiccini, get the hell out of here. ![]() ![]() |

Nelson de Jesus Silva (born October 7, 1973 in Irara, Bahia), commonly known as Dida, is a Brazilian footballer. He currently plays for A.C. Milan in the Italian Serie A
Dida's career started with Brazilian clubs Vitória, Cruzeiro, and Corinthians. His European career took shape at Switzerland's FC Lugano. He is often referred to as a penalty kick specialist because of his natural knack of saving penalty kicks in crucial matches, an ability evident in his early days with Cruzeiro. This caught AC Milan's eyes, but he was promptly sent home after a mistake in a Champions League match against Leeds United. Corinthians couldn't be more grateful to receive the 6'6" (1.98 m) giant. He came back to Milan next year, and regained his starting job for good. On April 12, 2005, during a Champions League game against bitter local rivals Inter Milan, Dida was hit and injured by a flare thrown from the crowd and subsequently received treatment for minor injuries. As a result of this and the generally deteriorating security situation within the San Siro Stadium, Milan, the referee, Markus Merk took the decision to abandon the game. Dida was part of the winning team in the following championships: Serie A: 2003-04 Brazilian Cup: 1996 Copa Libertadores: 1997 UEFA Champions League: 2002-03 European Super Cup: 2003 World Cup: 2002 Copa América: 1999 He received the third most votes for the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper award in 2004, behind Italy's Gianluigi Buffon and the Czech Republic's Petr Čech. I bring gifts.
![]() Dida sure of "improving" Milan Source: Football Italia Nelson Dida is full of confidence in his side ahead of two highly significant fixtures in Milan’s season. "We’re improving with every game," he said. Milan have some very difficult ties coming up, starting with back-to-back away trips at Fiorentina and then Fenerbahce in the Champions League. Both could determine the Rossoneri’s season. Defeat to the Viola, who are flying high in third place, will deflate the confidence that has grown over the course of the season and culminated in the recent win over League leaders Juventus and then the 5-1 thrashing of Udinese. Defeat in the Champions League, meanwhile, will threaten their European campaign and deprive Carlo Ancelotti’s men of the opportunity to amend the wrongs of last May’s penalty shoot-out pain in Istanbul. But losing is not something Dida or his teammates are contemplating, nor is the return to Turkey. As far as he is concerned, his side is on the up and taking every game one at a time. "First, we’ll think about the match against the Gigliati, which will be a tough one," he said. "We will go there, as always, with the intention of winning, which won’t be easy. "The same goes for the Champions League," he added. "We really, really want to stay in that incredible competition." In order to get off to a winning start in Florence, Dida will have to contend with their in-form Italy striker Luca Toni. Tonigol is the leading scorer with 13 Serie A goals already this season and, crucially, his side have never lost when he has netted. "We know that he’s done well for them and is still playing well," agreed the goalkeeper. "But we are very confident." Milan’s defence may be the oldest in the League but, after Juventus, it is the best in the Division and the South American shot-stopper is most happy when they are keeping him out of the action. "I prefer to be a spectator and cheer my teammates on," laughed the Brazilian. "If there aren’t any shots coming at me it means everyone is happy - my teammates, the Coach and the fans. "Obviously, it’s down to me to be ready when the ball does come in my direction." ![]() ![]() ![]() |

DIDA: ‘Improving with every match’ 11/16/2005 MILANELLO – Nelson Dida’s pre-afternoon training interview: -Nelson, what do you think about this first part of the season, personally and in terms of the team? “I think that we have done well, we are second in the championship. I always work hard to do my best. We are improving as a team with every match, we are raising the bar game after game.” -Did you recover after you were hit by a firecracker during the Champions League derby against Inter? “Look, it is still burning... just kidding! No, seriously nothing happened. I don’t even remember what happened. I feel like I am working hard and I am focused, that is all really.” -You must always be ready, even though there are only a few shots at you… “It’s better like that. I prefer to root for my team-mates rather than blocking a lot of shots. It’s not that I don’t want to work, but the less our opponents shoot at my goal the better. If only a few shots head towards me, then that means that we are playing well and when that happens we are all happy. I must be ready and prepared for those few balls that do arrive at my goal.” -How do you view Milan’s situation in the Champions League? “First we are thinking about Florence. Fiorentina have been doing well and they are ready for a difficult game. We will take to the field trying to win even though it won’t be easy. Then the same goes for the Champions League. We really want to remain in this great competition. I am unhappy that we didn’t win against PSV because we deserved to, above all in the first leg when we had many shots on the goal and created a lot of opportunities.” -Nelson, what is your impression of Luca Toni? “We are confidently going to Florence. We know that Toni has done and is doing very well. We will be very careful of him.” -Do the Brazilian Rossoneri players talk about Milan when you are with your national side? “Yes, we talk about how we are doing here. We speak well of Milan. It is a friendly place, with the warmth of a family. Milan is known for this across the world. The Ronaldinho video? I wouldn’t know what to say, I haven’t seen it. I’ll try it today and we’ll see what happens…The competition for us Brazilians? It is with Argentina. But, this is on the field, away from it I have many Argentinean friends.” -Who would you like to see Brazil play in the World Cup final? “We hope to make it to the final. We know it will be difficult. Everyone says that we are the favourites, but we have to demonstrate this on the field. There are other strong teams, teams like Argentina, like Italy that are growing, like Germany that always do well in the World Cup and are hosting it.” -Will Fiorentina-Milan also be a duel between you and Frey? “I don’t know. I believe that Frey has always done well, making good saves, even when he played with Parma. I don’t know how he will play on Sunday. I hope to win and that’s all. The Brazilian keepers? I am very happy to see that there are many of my talented countrymen in Europe. In addition to Julio Cesar, there is also Gomes, who has been doing very well. I don’t know if I am a trendsetter, I have only taken advantage of the opportunities that I have been given.” -What do you think about the latest unpleasant episode of racism on the field? “I only hope that justice is served and that the perpetrators are prosecuted fairly.” -How did Milan-Juventus effect you? “The game with Juve is a special one for us. We knew that we couldn’t lose. There was a lot of desire and determination to win before the game in the dressing room, then we played a wonderful game. We always give a little something extra against Juve.” ![]() ![]() |

Dida should be ashamed of him self
![]() If you are concideing 2 goals in every away match behind the best defence of the world then you really are at the end of ur career. Yes he was the hero in 2003 but now its 2005 and soon it would be 2006. So kick him out of the team & bring Abbiati back if you cannot buy a real high class goalkeeper like Carlo Cudicini & its as simple as that. |
