We have:

Flamini - Boateng (our good midfielders)
Pirlo - Ambrosini - Gattuso - Seedorf (our older/slow midfielders)
Strasser - Merkel (our youth midfielders)

Poli would be a verry nice addition, but i think we need to loose one of our older midfielders first, orelse Poli doesn't get much playtime because of our oldies

agreed..and for those who think we could and possibly will get this kid cheap, might wanna think differently..samp. know they have a small gold mine in him, and it will take quite a bit, given his age and talents..whoever is cheaper between pastore or poli, we need to grab up fast..

Why do they bench him then? I think we can get him for under 10M if Galliani gets him in January. The new coach seems to have no faith in him at all as he doesn't even get sub appearances...

Pastore will be a ridiculous amount. Zamparini is a real dick when it comes to transfers, we would probably be lucky to be looking at an offer of 30M.

+1 pastore's price will be ridiculous now especially with the man city 50mil rumors. poli will be somewhere around 10 which is a good price for his age/potential and yes, we need to act now, just like with lazzari, and if we don't think lazz or poli will play this term at all, then we can loan them, but letting them sit til next summer is terrible since their prices will increase and we will probably not go for them anymore. also, i don't know why people are saying to get pastore or poli... they are completely dissimilar players... its like comparing kaka and aquilani... doesn't make sense

I've been saying this as well, get them now, loan them out till the oldies are away in a season or two... Even co-ownerships would be a benefit!

Also, they are better developed than our primavera, so if we got them, loaned them out and brought them back in a season or two, along with our Primavera midfielders we'd have a great talent pool to pick the best from then :D

I think the sooner we sign him the better. His price is only going to increase and as everyone has said he is really out of favor at the moment. I think if we can buy him and then either loan or co-own him to some other team until Pirlo moves on. Even though I think Poli could bench Pirlo I don't think B&G would like it much. Senatores really seem to have preference over young talents. BUT, if Poli was assured a Starting XI spot I would definitely get him over here. He is one of my favorite players and I would jizz if we got him.

If we can have Calvano and Fossati coming in to our team when he arrives that would be awesome!

well, gattuso should leave and poli should arrive. this is what i would want. getting poli in january, apart from being exciting would be smart too because his price may jump up in 2011 summer. it's not like i want to keep the other oldies though. Seedorf should leave too and we should get that Kagawa dude, or Honda, other people here seem to like them, so for now i'll believe that they are good. dont really have time to check them out myself.

What makes Flamini 'good'? He's a disaster every time he steps on the field. Not cut out for Serie A. Ship him back to England

Gattuso has possibly been our best midfielder all year. Definitely our best DM.

In all honesty, flamini is looking to be booking his ticket out of milan if he can't assert himself this year. I'm getting sick of him. He can't beat out gattuso, ambrosini BASED ON PERFORMANCE. You can say he hasn't gotten opportunities but thats not true. He's 47 starts (in all competitions), countless sub appearances, under 2 different managers and never been able to cement a place.

Look at Boateng, didn't take him long. Neither Gattuso or Ambrosini have been consistent world class since 2008 either, so unless flams can show that arsenal form again, he'll leave and milan can pursue a DM of future.

my exact sentiments, so you don't just get a +1... you get a "+ fucking 1"

i'm all for flams, but i've seen nothing to show he's better than rino or ambro and nothing to warrant his 5m wages thus far... i hope for the sake of milan this is his breakout season, but if not, sell while he still has high value and get a true DM

Report from a week or so ago.

Milan tracking Sampdoria's Andrea Poli - Report
Serie A table toppers Milan are considering making a move for promising midfielder Andrea Poli, currently under contract with fellow Italian side Sampdoria.

By Stefan Coerts

Young midfielder Andrea Poli has caught the attention of Italian table toppers Milan with his good performances for fellow Serie A side Sampdoria in the 2010-11 campaign, ********** reports.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new midfielder because of the expected departures of Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf at the end of the season and Milan see Poli as a good addition to their squad.

Poli started his professional career with Treviso and joined Sampdoria in the summer of 2007. He spent the 2008-09 season on loan at Sassuolo and has developed into a key player at Sampdoria since returning to the Blucerchiati.

The Italy under-21 star's good performances had already resulted in the interest of clubs such as Juventus and Inter, and Milan are now believed to be after Poli's signature as well.

The 21-year-old midfielder currently sits 1355th in the Castrol EDGE Rankings following his recent performances.

Also, some brief match reports from Goal.com on some of his good performances.

Andrea Poli - 29/9/1989 - Sampdoria - Was man-marked for the entire match by Alberto Aquilani, so he couldn't impose himself too much on the match against Juventus. He also did a good job to keep the former Liverpool player quiet when the Bianconeri pushed forward.

Andrea Poli - 29/9/1989 - Sampdoria - Strong performance by the midfielder, as he showed why he has attracted plenty of interest from clubs all over Europe.

Andrea Poli - 29/9/1989 - Sampdoria - The 21-year-old is still getting accustomed to his new role, and had a wonderful chance to open the scoring in the first half, but hit the woodwork. Ran hard all night before being replaced.

Andrea Poli - 29-9-1989 - Sampdoria - The only Blucerchiati midfielder to provide problems in the midfield, getting two players yellow-carded.

Poles in the eyes of Milan
16/04/2011 10:00 Stefano Maraviglia

The months passed quickly, the market sessions follow each other, but the attraction of Milan for Andrea Poli has never diminished. Maybe he lost in his time (some hundreds of thousands of euro), an overview of particular interest on the national scene, may have left a bitter taste in the mouth of Milan's leadership, from that day onwards, he never stopped monitoring the growth of the young midfielder Sampdoria. A lot of the rumors and continued on, many of which are also very imaginative, like the one that wanted Marco Storari confirmed in Genoa (at the time of the Juve goalkeeper hours, defended the posts Sampdoria on loan from AC Milan), in exchange for a ' option or something more, taken by the leadership doriana Galliani. Very little smoke and concrete, while many good moves in the 21-year old protagonist of all sectors of the Under blue. Equipped with excellent technique and position sense, Poli can play all the roles of the median, it is also for this reason that in Via Turati often saw him as an ideal reinforcement, especially when compared to age and attendance in Serie A. Tomorrow at the San Siro before the eyes of Ariedo Braida and Adriano Galliani, the boy will try to do well, the stakes are too important: it could mean salvation for Samp and for him, against the final consecration of the club concerned. Van Bommel and co. are proof of Appeals challenging to say the least, overcome the obstacle, the already strong interest could increase exponentially. The value of the player is not less than 15 mln euro, but this is a different matter, first there's the challenge for San Siro match decisive for the fate of both.

A lot of people on here seem to not like poli or the thought of him playing for us..this kid has potential to become a solid midfielder given the right players surrounding him..he's young and he's Italian and I truly believe he would be worth the gamble..but as said before me today will be a good rest to see what he can showcase against a club like us..samp was never wanting to sell their possible future star but the closer they get to the bottom of the table the more likely they will sell him off for extra cash..

Yes...if the other team don't get him before us.

I think he will be sold even if Samp will remain in Serie A.

Samp selling one of their better players?? noooo, they would never do that:eek:

Kinda feel we will try to sign him, especially if we let go 1-2 Italian senatores this summer.

i would love to see him here first on the bench and then if he can prove he can do a decent job, we are building a fast team o time for caressing and holding the ball

Definitely one of the best among the rotten italian "football" youth

Agreed..the youngster has solid potential just needs the right home..samp is a solid team but not the right team for a player to grow and become something special..getting him and having him on the bench for a season or so would be a good route as this kid seems to not complain about match time with samp..

i think he would be a solid anchor, he's also got a very good passing range (although nowhere near the level of pirlo), he's a dynamic player too. should do well at anchor or lcm imo, although i'd prefer sahin as he's better at getting on the scoring or assist sheet.

I'd take him... He'd add depth, not complain about a bench role and given a year or two could develop well under the wings of our great midfielders. Then hopefully in a year or two we'd have a very good midfilder at hand when our midfield starts to thin out when the senatores are away

If we brought him in we could surely send the likes of Bonera and or Anton the other way as part of the deal perhaps. The point is we need to also think about midfield depth over the coming years with the possability of Senatores retiring over the next couple of seasons and Poli would be a smart buy in the long term

I know hes been injured this season but otherwise is he even a regular starter @ samp? Just asking cuz i noticed from the highlights that in many games he came latter on just as a sub.

I think Palombo and Guberti are the only guarantee starters in Samp midfield. All the others players - Poli, Dessena, Tissone, Koman, Mannini and etc. are chosen depending on the game/form/injuries and so on.

Thinking about, it's incredible this team is one point away from relegation. What a stupid management.

he plays a lot under Del Neri though alongside Palombo, this season he hasn't been playing much, just like Sven said, competing mostly with Dessena and Tissone.

I think he as a good potential, strong and quick, plus good passing range, not to mention Allegri likes him (naming Poli as Italian best u-21 midfielder in an interview earlier this season )
