Don't understand the people who say Leao is an SS. He's played both a pure CF and SS (to a lesser extent) but was always primarily a main striker. Yes he seems fast and technical - abilities which an SS should have - but it doesn't instantly make him one. Maybe GP can fit him there if we don't sign an actual SS, but I feel he'll be the backup to both the CF and SS meaning he'll get a lot of minutes either way.

Makes sense as to why we want Correa or another SS, rather than relying on Leao to immediately perform in that role. But.. as you say, if we don't sign another SS then Leao has to play there. Samu just doesn't fit that role or the team for that matter, and Silva was slightly better than Samu but he's still not good enough.

We have to get a good and experienced SS until the end or we are doomed, we can't just make the same mistake from last summer where we didn't buy a left winger and suffered all season because of that.

Also we can't miss CL again, it will kill us.

Another midfielder is also a must if you ask me, Modric is still the dream but i would also take Rakitic in a heartbeat.

Leao reminds me more of Balotelli than Niang. He has a directness to him which is a great quality for a prima punta. When he gets the ball, his instincts instantly turn to the goal. Again, super early assessment since I only saw those 45 minutes. I'd rather like my support striker to be a low center of gravity (shorter guy), ball to the feet player who can combine well with the midfielders and play some intricate football.

btw, Samu is definitely a misfit, but he was still miles better than Silva.

Samu can’t be getting starting minutes... I honestly believe his play is why Piatek was suffering this preseason. They don’t fit well together at all

His career. Leaf wouldn't be the one to make such a wild bet as to Silva scoring 30 in all comps this year alone. Maybe if we were in EL since he can put a good few in against farmers...

I think that we'll be forced to pay at least 50m at the end.

From Atletico point of view, they don't give a fuck if he'll leave or stay, he's backup anyway. From our point of view, he is one of the most important player in this system and we NEED to buy someone till the end.


I just hope that Depay is available. Imagine when player who is miles better than Korea is cheaper. :lol:

We need a quality SS badly.
All the teams we have played so far in preason fully marked Piatek since they know he is the main threat. This is also the reason why castillejo gets so much free space, but can’t take advantage of it simply for being poor.

Suso lacks off the ball movements to play as a TQ.. man is so static and only moves when he has the ball.
