sure he wasn't a milan material player but at least he knew his position in the team and always played with heart when called upon.

In retrospect, probably a more useful player to keep than Mauri.
I don't think anyone even thought otherwise. A more useful player wants a more useful role as well. Not just hang with Paletta and get an Audi. Heck even Jose Mauri would want it if he had a suitor.
