4:37 Classic Milan goal from the Ancelotti years. Such perfection in that pass.

kaka is more dominant playing in his prime but if you take their careers as a whole pirlo has had a much better career and played at a high level for much longer.

awesome to see both of them tear up mls

i mean, i dislike pirlo as much as the next guy. he shouldn't be regarded as a milan legend as it'd embarrassing considering what he's said in his book.

but in a pure footballing sense only, the guy is a master and one of the biggest reasons behind the success of ancelotti era. he's not inferior to any player in that team. he makes a team click like few others.

just the fact that he revived his career after moving from milan speaks tons and tons. milan's got to admit, our fault was to not build the team (midfield) around him post 2007. not doing that and letting pirlo go for free was another one of galliani's huge mistakes as manager for this club.

Agree w/ this post.... the bolded part is 100% true. That team was such an awkward centralized fit which only worked cause of Pirlo. Even then it had it's downfalls cause of awkwardness.

-

and post 2007 i completely agree. Infact post 2006 the vision should have been clear, seeing what he did w/ italy.... 2 forward (kaka playing off CF or when kaka left something similar) and a 4 man versitile midfield w/ Pirlo holding it together.

Instead we went for vanity signings like Ronaldinho etc.

Funny thing is, if he doesn't get hurti n 2010-11 i bet he stays and Seedorf leaves. He was starting and had good form in midfield w/ Flamini, Gattuso, Boateng and Zlatan and a forward

LOL at Pirlo tearing up MLS

dude has 0 physical abilities, as for Kaka he had a drought of +8 matches that ended in his most recent game.

now Drogba is good example

To win league titles, you would need to build a team around pirla. To win the champions league u need seedorf or a kaka type player in form.

Absolutely love Tinkerbell. Definitely Italian footballs greatest midfielder from the modern era.

That freekick against Cagliari, I just knew he was gonna score it.

Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is. Cruyff

Pirlo just made it look oh so easy.

How about to win a World Cup ?

Then you need a Pirlo :smileani:

Look at the way he's just as happy using his left as he is his right, you don't see that anywhere now.

Also never sticking to the safe pass to the fullback, pinning it forward unexpectedly, great to watch.

Kroos and Alonso are kind of similar in their two-footedness. Iniesta too but he doesn't play it as long as Pirlo, ever.

The long through ball, from near the centre circle to the goal area, is nearly extinct.

I mean, if you aren't against loaning Balo I don't see why 6 month loan for Pirlo would be bad when CM is actually a position we need enforcing.

a goal starts before an assist

I agree....but he posted about "Pirlo servicing Bacca". To get these direct assists, we need a Fabregas/Ozil/Oscar/Mata....a good CAM. Pirlo is good to set up the midfield in a way that someone else might be in position to dish the assist.
