Mika is crack pop. I've been listening to his CD nonstop lately...and I'm not even a fan of pop, dear lord.

Every single damn song is addictive. Although Billy Brown is extra special, hehe, because it's so different; I've never heard anything like it from any other artist before.

Mika..... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Another product of the Myspace hype machine, no ?

If you think he's 'original', I recommend familiarizing yourself with the śuvre of Freddy Mercury + Marc Bolan. I can hear a couple more artistic influences but don't want to talk about them because that's so private, you know, like his sexuality, kind of. *flutters eyelashes*

I don't have a MySpace and I generally don't follow the mainstream. But my friend said Mika is crack and I gave him a listen, and, god, he really is!

I'll check out those recs, but I have no idea about the rest of what you said.

Haha, don't worry, I was just playing coy like Mika did when he was launching himself ... the product Mika ... with just the right dose of mysteriousness about the question of questions... He's giving off fag vibes, so why the need of being secretive ... Ah right, marketing + the US market can be particularly unforgiving in certain regards

Anyway, I think he's a smart recycler with a dash (but only a dash) of originality

The best band ever is Alice in Chains. Nothing else even comes close!

Would?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3FnQMSD4Zg

Down In A Hole

Rotten Apple

And a tribute to Layne Staley with Brother as music

Just don't listen to anything without Layne, cause without his voice it just isn't the same.

^^ Didn't he say he was gay though? Or, well, something about Billy Brown and no mystery about his sexuality.

Layne was one of the best vocalists in rock + AIC *IMO* the best band to ever come out of Seattle.

Jerry was actually sick that evening, before and after he was on stage. He said he felt good on stage.

Imo Layne has the best voice I've ever heard. Ever heard Mad Season?
Mad Season was formed in 1994 by the trio of Mike McCready (guitar), Barrett Martin (drums) and John Baker Saunders (bass). All three had long been a part of the Seattle music community with McCready playing in such bands as Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog, Martin with Skin Yard and the Screaming Trees and Saunders with The Walkabouts as well as blues talents such as Little Pat Rushing, Hubert Sumlin, Sammy Fender, and the Lamont Cranston Band.

Immediately the trio set up rehearsal time together and wrote two songs, "Wake Up" and "River of Deceit", both of which would later appear on their album Above. McCready then brought in friend and Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley to round out the lineup.

Also very, very good music. I think Layne's voice is perfect on some of their songs
