El sharaaway? tbf Even Berardi has done more to get a call up. Its unlucky for SES that he got injured but prandelli cannot take that risk of taking him

Balotelli, Rossi, Insigne, Cerci, Immobile is fine... Destro if prandelli wants 6 forwards.

for Berardi this WC is coming too soon
he's only 19, he just came out of his shell this season
and has never been called up before

and if he's taking the risk with Rossi he should take that with El Shaarawy as well

Cassano is an asshole, but he deserves to be there and I rather not take Destro
but I'm happy Osvaldo is not called up

If Rossi-Balo partnership was like SES- Balo then he would have dropped him too maybe. Plus Rossi has already scored on his comeback. And you can take risk on one, but not everyone. Rossi has had an incredible season. Ses has been unlucky and his last/only great patch was 1.5 years ago.

Yeh osvaldo is shit, thank God he isnt picked.

Cassano is good for parma etc but i wouldnt pick him to make a difference in worldcup, he is like Di Natale for me.

You're not going to take a risk on two players who have been out for a long time.
Rossi is worth taking.
Stephan is going to have to wait until Euro 2016 to make his mark.

Who would you take instead of Astori? Rannochia? Ogbonna? Oh please. Astori is better than both and there's a reason why he'll be there and they wont.
Not to mention Prandelli kinda needs a left footed CB with his characteristics

Oh and I realized Nestafan is missing one CB, which will naturally be Bonucci.

Don't be angry at me because SES wasn't picked.
Prandelli didn't have much of a choice, the guy has been out for the entire season, and as i said few days ago, it's not like he is a proven regular with the national side.

Jesus still this discussion. Gila is a pupil of Prandelli, hes got a soft spot for him, he will be there now matter what form hes in . He gives him guarantees and experience others don't (Gila scored 10+ goals in SA for how many consecutive seaons?). 15 goals this season too.
Balo, Immobile, Cerci, Cassano/Rossi and Gila - well balanced.

Not that I back this choice, but its no surprise. In fact, Gila was the only attacker along Balo that had a guaranteed spot.

My pick would be:

GK (3): Buffon, Sirigu, Perin
DF (7): Abate, De Sciglio, Maggio, Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonnucci, Astori/Paletta
MD (7): Pirlo, Verratti, De Rossi, Montolivo, Candreva, Marchisio/Motta, Poli/Bertolacci/Aquilani/Florenzi
FW (6): Balotelli, Immobile, G. Rossi, Cerci, Insigne, Berardi/Shaarawy

Can't think of a good leeft footed left back apart from Criscito who is a bit too slow for my liking. If there is such a player, maybe he could be included in place of Abate/Maggio or in place of a CB (Since De Rossi can be dropped into defence if required). I have intentionally left out Cassano since I see his fitness being a problem in humid Brazil. Prandelli has also talked about this aspect.

Going by the last press conference, poor Destro seems likely to miss out on the provisional squad as well. Otherwise there's a toss-up between FB and CB which could see Ranocchia making it and one of the FBs missing out perhaps.

Bolded are the ones I hope would make the final 23.

There is absolutely no good reason to pick Astori

there is the ladri trio and Paletta
and in case of emergency there is De Rossi and Criscito who can play as CB
but no one in their right mind would pick Astori, seriously :fp:

genoa’s official twitter account announced alberto gilardino and mattia perin are in italy’s provisional world cup squad.

the list of players called up by cesare prandelli won’t be officially confirmed until later this evening at around 19.00 uk time.

however, genoa jumped the gun with a tweet on the club’s official account.

“gilardino and perin are in prandelli’s list of 30: Congratulations from all of genoa cfc!”

the provisional squad of 30 players will be whittled down to 23 for the world cup itself in brazil next month.

Both gilardino and perin were big doubts to feature even in the list of 30, so this tweet is a surprising development.
