week after week, Calabria is the main reason for our conceded goals, this for two years, and yet there are people who still consider him an upcoming talent etc etc. He is a disaster and can't wait to have him replaced. Not even good enough as a backup

He's really not this disaster.

The first goal you could put him at fault, but, it was also a really good shot, and the bigger problem is that we give these gaps between our midfield and defense for passes like that to happen.

The second goal was more on Musa to be honest, he kept Quag on, while Calabria was holding the off-side line.

The defense looked so much better in the second half though, you have to give Gattuso and the team credit for the second half performance defensively.

Buske is not even a Suso supporter, yet barks so fucking loud every time Suso scores. He likes all Spaniards, that's about it. Fucking fake piece of shit.

Summary:

- A win is a win, 3 points was the only result that mattered.

- Gigio? IMO, he could have done more in Sampdoria's goals.

- Calabria? As poor as usual in defense. On the first one got schooled by Saponara and the second one he got outpaced by "old man Quagliarella " even though he was marking him and let him have a free run whether Musachio was making the play legal or not.

- Musachio? Ups and downs. Bad first half, better second half.

- Romagnoli? He is our rock in defense.

- Rodriguez? A complete game from Ricardo.

- Biglia ? Same as Musachio.

- Kessie? Same as Biglia.

- Suso? Good game but he does not understand the word counter-attack.

- Laxalt? Technically not great but how much of a difference instead of Messi Bonaventura hogging the ball for the whole game.

- Higuain? Showed the fire.

- Cutrone? Kid is the heart of this team.

- Gattuso? He looked like he was going to have a heart attack or kill somebody or both at the same time.

- Subs? Not need to be mentioned.

- Sampdoria? I gotta thank them for playing such an open game because if they had a team that pressured you in the buildup we would have been in trouble. On the other hand, not only Saponara showed how a midfield can function with a 1-touch and pass the ball to a teammate works but also they showed how to attack the weak points of the other teams when it is need it instead of extra buildup.

Was nice to see hunger from the squad again despite not playing a particularly beautiful game. Cutrone is crucial to us plus he really instills that urgency when he's on the field.the entire squad benefits from his presence.

Our defense needs to iron out their game. Individually they all have good skills, but they haven't quite clicked in defending as a unit.

Top 3 in goals scored

Shit in goals allowed

Sort the shitty passes that get intercepted and the tighten up the spaces between the lines

way too many goals allowed. Should have been a 4-1 match and not 3-2

Deserved 3 points.

First goal conceded was soft defending but Saponara had all the time to challenge 1vs1 on Calabria, ball went through Musacchios legs straight in the corner so these things happen. In the second offside trap failed. Donna could have done better to rush out to cover the shot better. It looked like Calabria was shouting to Donna after the goal.

I was pleased with 4-4-2. Defence looked quite solid regardless of the goals conceded. When you have one less player in the middle of the park there will also be one less opponent so it opens space for build-up play. Plenty of interceptions in the center of midfield and in the defence too. Suso contributed in the attack so this formation didn't affect on his strengths too much. When defending it looked like Laxalt tripled CM position and helped Biglia and Kessie a lot.

Our strikers put in a shift and pressed high up field all night long. This also impressed how much better this worked compared to pressing with lone striker and wingers.

What worries a bit is lack of opinions in CM positions. Only physical threat we have is Kessie.

Extremely happy we somehow got the 3 points, hopefully this will give the lads a good moral boost.

But, we leak goal likes crazy. The way we defend is absolutely horrific, and more often than not like we saw until this game, we will drop points because we can't defend for shit.

Performances like today can go either way, this is still NOT a team that can qualify for CL by playing so shite anytime there's a slight pressure on our midfield + defence.

we had problems in mid today. biglia and kessie looked uncomfortable in their role. their marking and passing were off(specially biglia). kessie hustled a lot but i expect more from him and biglia. saponara had too much space for my liking. other than that we played well. could have easily avoided first goal. musa should have covered for calabria(calabria is not at fault for that goal) and donna should have done better. second goal don't remember exactly what happened there. we were defending with most of the players on our own half and yet somehow quag had so much space. rr played pivotal role in switching play and finding suso with lots space. suso clearly motm but he ruined some counter attacks. team needs to believe more in higuain. the pass that cutrone gave(or the one higuain gave to cutrone against roma), our midfielders/wingers never attempts them.
