Nigel de Jong will sign a 3-year contract with Milan, worth €4m per season, according to Corriere dello Sport.

That setup with Montolivo-De Jong looks very nice. But it also seems to depend totally on Kaká coming. And, of course, Allegri.

But in case we stick with a similar system as the current one, I wonder where De Jong would fit better. Would he take the van Bommel role? Or would he take the Gattuso role? I'd particularly want him to play as an anchor in case his passing and composure are good enough, mostly because of Montolivo. But if he's not, I think it would also be fine if he ends up being more of a ball winner. However, he would probably have to work his ass off for us to get the best influence possible from a regista Montolivo.
I see no reason why he can't, he's quite good with the ball, not much worse than Van Bommel and certainly a lot better than Gattuso.

Playing him as anchor and Monto as regista would certainly solve a lot of our problems.

HAHAHAAHA

"Fucking detest Milan - they sell there players for a premium then scab around trying to get players on the cheap or on loan. Apparently they have only offered €4 for DeJong, they are true piss artists.

Why is Walcott worth 15m and Sinclair 8m with one year left on their contract and DeJong is worth 2.5m - were seen as a fucking soft touch."

He got pretty good passing accuracy stats with City.

He was the 15th player on Premier League on pass success percentage in 09/10 - 84.9%

Jumped to third in 10/11 - 90%

And to second in 11/12 - 92,3%

Very underrated possession player most people think of him as just breaking legs but if you watch when he plays he thinks ahead at least 3 or 4 steps. An intelligent DM with a footballing brain....

And we really need that kind of a player so he will be an upgrade for sure.

Just close the deal and make one more transfer G.

Whoa! I didn't know his passing stats would be so good. Interesting.

It's not Monty long ball flicks, though. He passes and gets the job done. Which, honestly, is exactly what we need.

Of course, no one expects him to provide creative passes. The exact midfielder that we need now is someone who can shield the defence, win balls, and immediately feed the creative midfielder.

Pretty much.

I think the seed is very high for Monty and De Jong... They can form a killer partnership.

FACT: Most of you think De Jong is a killing machine, BUT, he's NEVER BEEN SENT OFF during 266 matches in Erediviese, Bundesliga & EPL.

Muntari - De Jong - Flamini

My midfield of choice for facing Barca, Ladri, Merda. Still missing one piece of the puzzle in that midfield.
