Tevez likes to wear number 10 and if we can pull of a major transfer coup he should be given the shirt.

On Rui Costa i'm sorry but I think he has been a major disappointment given the money he cost. Yes he has shown flashes of brilliance and has made some contribution to team successes but when people think back on his career when he retires they will think of him as being at his best when he played for Fiorentina.

I think a respectful departure for a player who contributed but did not live up to the reputation...and price tag!

Did you mean "did they qualify"? If so then they were 3-rd in the Superliga which means they have to play in the 3-rd round of the qualifying round in CL.

Rui Costa joins Benfica

Benfica have signed Manuel Rui Costa after he rescinded his contract with Milan, a Portuguese club official has revealed.

The European giants were expected to net the midfielder who has grown increasingly tired of his bench role at the San Siro.

Rui Costa flew into Lisbon last night and will be officially unveiled to the media at a Press conference this evening.

It’s understood that the former Fiorentina great, who quit international football after Euro 2004, has signed a one-year deal with an option for a second.

The 34-year-old spent three years with Benfica in the early part of his career before moving to Florence in 1994.

"I feel happy with the possibility of returning, an ambition I have had for 12 years,” Rui Costa has said.

Benfica: Rui Costa Saga Ends With Today’s Presentation!

After the mutual agreement to end their relationship on a sweet rather than bitter note, AC Milan cleared the way for a return to Da Luz for at least a year. Rui Costa, after several fits and starts that had jaded fans’ hopes of seeing him back in an Encarnado jersey, will finally be presented today.

Twelve years separate the playmaker from the last time he donned the crimson shirt made famous across Europe by Eusébio et al. After triumphing with Fiorentina, the playmaker left the stricken club for the northern pastures of San Siro and now returns to his native Portugal to play out his last years on the pitch as a returning hero.

The contract is for one year in principle, the Lisbon club unable to make grand financial gestures thanks to a still-rickety financial situation, but there’s a clause allowing for a second year by mutual consent. Rui Costa is due to be presented this afternoon in the Portuguese capital as a Benfica player.

I have a back issue of Forza Milan in which Sheva, Costa and Dida all appear on the cover, with the headline "2006 - Year of the Tsar (Sheva)" in huge letters on the front. And now one is confirmed gone while the other two are likely on their way. The SI cover jinx has apparently spread to Italy.
