Cagliari President Massimo Cellino says he will release Massimiliano Allegri, “but only if it’s Milan who ask me. I’d want to keep him out for a year.”
The club has already chosen Leonardo’s successor, but he is still under contract with the Sardinians.
“Allegri deeply disappointed me,” explained President Cellino. “After achieving safety this season he just gave up, I would’ve expected far more from someone like him.”
Cellino fired his Coach for being ‘distracted’ by other teams, but now threatens to keep him out of work for an entire campaign by refusing to terminate the contract.
“I will not hide that I’d love to keep him out for a year, as he still has a contract with us. I will return to Italy next week and listen to what Adriano Galliani has to say.
“I’ll probably release Allegri, but only if it’s Milan who ask me. Otherwise I’d really have to think about it...”
