Final Fantasy 7 will always be my all time favorite, only because its story and characters are so memorable. The soundtrack and gameplay were sublime as well.

I just think it's awesome how Squaresoft just flipped the series on its head with FF9 after two consecutive successes with FF7 and 8.

Going from the darker, industrial/futuristic atmosphere of the 2 subsequent games with emo main characters to the cartoony, light-hearted feel of older titles led by a cocky and tongue-in-cheek Zidane.

I still believe that nothing after 9 has been able to outdo it. The last true game of the series.
Although I enjoyed 10 and 12.

I don't even want to bother with what they're releasing nowadays. I downloaded FF6, and I'm going to start playing it for the first time after I beat 9.

Edit: @Jammin .. you should give FF7 a shot sometime. Hopefully the dated graphics don't put you off though lol

If you want to fight the strongest boss in the game, you have to do the chocobo minigame.

Ozma :b:

non- FF RPG with awesome gameplay/soundtracks? Legends of Legaia

Legend of Mana was awesome too, but it's squaresoft so you're still getting the FF vibe a bit/

I played Journey for PS3... It was years since I played anything.

Very nice game, quite artistic and sentimental

I heard good shit about both VI and VII. But I'll probably take a break from FF after finishing IX, and play sth like Xenogears or MGS first. Or maybe Spyro, loved that game when I was younger.

General sent me an excellent list of RPGs for the PSX.

Not sure if its on PS4 or Xbox One

I haven't missed out on a WC game since the 98 one (which I played 2 years after it)

I want to get it and return it as soon as the WC is finished

Tbh, I tried to get into FF7 but just lost complete interest when getting to the first world-map section. Just couldn't be bothered to continue. With 6 I died at a certain point and couldn't be bothered to replay.

I got even further in FF8 which is surprising - but again, I got bored. I think the furthest I've got in a FF game other than 9 is 1, where I got like 3 quarters of the way through but realised I took a wrong turn and it would take like 4 hours to do it right.

Over Easter(I don't trust torrenting on Uni internet) I'll have to get FF6, 7 and 8 to play.

Oh the days when I downloaded them all bar 3 and gave em a shot.

tbh the materia system in FF7 was quite good too (provided you like long rpg grinding). Can't quite remember the system they used for FF9 as I just played it once for the story but I suppose it was okay because I didn't remember its strangeness like the magic drawing + junction from 8 or sphere grid system and having to dodge 200 consecutive thunders to make the ultimate weapon usable from X.

The materia system was amazing. Incredibly smooth and straightforward.

My one gripe with FF7 was the lack of class-based characters. In other words, everyone could use magic, summons, etc. and their only distinguishing traits were their weapons and attacks.

FF tactics was also a good one. Still to this day contain probably the strongest most broken final fantasy character ever.

its wierd to think that this game is so brilliant you actually want to avoid war as long as possible and its still addictively fun

Tbh, I like Rome, but I'm kind of useless in a Civ V way.

I like Civs that get bonuses from combat(Aztecs, Assyria) but I don't fight wars(I often find myself destroyed because I never have an army ); I like Civs that get bonuses from building small, but I like having a huge empire with loads of cities.

There aren't really any Civs which help my playstyle, which is building cities in places which look nice(Coast, river, etc), building a small military and getting a huge population.

The best for me would probably be Shoshone, but I also like the Aztecs because on decent difficulties, you are going to be attacked and that's a nice culture boost.

I ran my first game to learn the basics. Got pissed at an empire destroying my roads by building cities close to me. They got pissy against me. I declared war. Won the war. Everyone got pissed that I took their cities. Sweden included. One of their units is now locked in inbetween my cities.

How on earth do you have so many cities when other Civs have like 2... or 1, in the case of that one in Alaska.

It's my first time playing, so it's on the easiest level. Half of them are stolen from Attila.

Fair enough.

I remember talk of The Witcher games in here before hand, just a heads up that they're both 80% off on Steam.

civ 5 isn't that difficult once you start to understand what each one of those seemingly meaningless stats actually mean. by far, for me, culture is the most important. once i get it going steadily the sky's the limit, as through policies you get bonuses to everything else.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Hands-off Impressions

Spoiler:

-If it is raining, villagers will run for shelter, and if it’s

deathly cold, they will seek a source of warmth. If faced with an

attack, they will defend themselves, whether you are involved or not.

-Approaching storms can be spotted from afar, and will eventually

reach you, affecting your steering ability and wreaking havoc on your

vessel.

-The new economic system in place sees merchants charge more for fish

the further they are from the sea, for example.

-Depending on whether it is broad daylight or night, certain

creatures may go into hiding, awaken, or even become stronger/weaker.

-Sign usage is faster, able to be utilised fluidly as an integral

part of your offensive arsenal. Each of the five Signs now have a

primary and secondary application, i.e., the Igni fire blast can be

held to develop into a flamethrower.

-The potions will work in a different way than in The Witcher 2. So

now you will prepare them, you will drink them before a fight, but you

can release the effect of those whenever you want. So it’s not like

you’ve drunk the potion and you have 30 seconds of boost and then it

wears off. You can start the fight in the moment it suits you, and if

the fight proves hard, you can just release the effect through your

metabolism. But if the fight is easy, you can preserve that and use it

in the next fight.

-The inventory will be akin to a decidedly more traditional, classic

grid system

-The story will have a definitive end – ergo, you will not be able to

continue past end-game and tie up loose ends, yet they feel you make

of the experience what you will, and missing out on one minor

interaction here or there is not such a big deal.

I'm thinking.

Shall I start with The Walking Dead Season 2 episode 1? Or wait until the second is out. Or should I wait and continue with The Wolf Among us instead? (Still in first episode) ...

don't touch it

had a customer come in asking about where in the hell can he find season 2 - we had like a 15 minute convo bout the decisions he made in the first game. While it would be awesome to start it - I'd get so agitated if I had to wait x amount of days before the next episode

second all episodes are out - get on it.

Finished Rayman Origins last night - planned to get Legends on the PS4. Damn, what a game. Lots of fun (and frustration)
