Default Ballon d’Or 2008

i put those players in poll and option if u think that someone else deserves that reward..it's most likely that clown is gonna win it and i can't see goalkeeper win it because we know that it's hard for defender to win and especially for goalkeeper..

Top five candidate

It's still several months before the Balon d'Or winner is announced, but the latest issue of L'Équipe has reveiled the names of the five likely finalists, among whom is Iker Casillas.

Winning the league and the Euro and conceding the fewest goals in each are reason enough for Iker Casillas to find his name atop the list of Balon d'Or candidates. According to the latest edition of France's L'Équipe, which belongs to the same publishing house as France Football, the Madridista goalkeeper is among the top five candidates for the award.

Joining Casillas are Spanish international and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, Portuguese international and ManU winger Cristiano Ronaldo, UEFA Cup champion and Euro 08 standout Arshavin, and Barcelona forward Leo Messi.

It's obviously Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo has it in the bag. No point even discussing that.

But how the hell is ArseShaving in the running? He had a couple of good games in the Euro's - big deal. Sneijder, Ibra, Fabregas and many more have had better seasons than the flavour of the month.

Ronaldo hands down. He led his team to victory in the CL+League. Scored an amazing 42 goals and is not even a striker. He's clearly now the most complete footballer in existence and if he doesn't win then something must be wrong.

For once I agree with the Inter-faggot, there is no reason to put Arshavin on that list...

Only one guy in the list guided his team to domestic and European honours as well as gotr max out of his national team - Arshavin wins hands down!

Uhm.. there is.

Just because Zenit didn't play in CL doesn't mean that its players can't be there. Arshavin enjoyed a great success with his team and nation. He deserves at least the top 5.

C.Ronaldo might miss out again because Spain won the European Championship. I hope that Casillas wins the award, but for mine it's either Ronaldo or Torres.

It's not because he didn't play CL, it's because everyone rates him on his 2 good EURO-games.
Ronaldo has scored 42 goals in the premier League, he was far more important to Man Utd then Arshavin was to Zenit.
I'm not saying there should only be big players with big names in the list but for me Arshavin was not one of the 5 best players of last season.

I think they put Arshavin there just to show some respect and give a bit importance to Uefa Cup + his Euro games

Nope.. Arshavin was a fundamental part of Zenit's success this year in Europe and Russia.

without ibra u wouldnt have won the Serie A simple as, if u look at it as far as yur whole season he was the key player or if u look at that poor game where inter couldnt overcome parma so ibra came on half fit and scored 2 in the last 10mins to win the game 2-0 and allow u to win yur title
but... i dnt think he deserves to be mentioned in same category as messi and ronaldo

Why ppl r talkin shit about Ronaldo ?
Kaka was shit with the national team + serieA & he was only good in CL & all were suckin his dick.
Ronaldo won both EPL + CL scoring as twice as Kaka in his best season.
Am not sayin Ronaldo should win but just pointing how biased ppl r

All the above deserve it with Messi as the week link.
I would go with this order :
1-Cass - CR7 - Arsh
2- Torres
3-Messi.
