He was beaten by Messi once which lead to a goal. Should've covered the ball MUCH better, but underestimated Messi's pace and payed the price. Abate's shown he can defend well against some of the best attacking players in the world. However, he must have a thing for Milito's mother, or something.

Maggio is better at going forward than Abate, but from 2 match against Spain vs Croatia Maggio was very average, he can't cross or dribble. so he should back up for abate

Abate is no wunderkid but he is decent and has room for improvement, we must remember that this is not the Milan of old days, always looking for perfection by buying the best replacements, we are much weaker in other areas so I would rather fix those than criticize Abate who could actually improve if the overall level of the team improved itself.
