This is bad. I've always liked Max since he joined in 98-99 season. His goal took us to the final. More over, he is very useful in balancing the whole team, the combination of Gattuso's defense and Seedorf's attack. Definitely Vikash must replace him.

He deserve to be in the final. I feel sad for him. According to the official site, it said that "He is likely to miss final"... It might also means that Ambro might be able to recover in time to play. Who knows right :)

Shit happens.

I bet he'll go to Istanbul with the team + hopefully screams his lungs out in support of his team mates on the pitch. Speedy recovery !!

Awww.. Kinda sad to know that. Milan should have no problem winning it w/o him. He can celebrate with the other players on the bench. :D

Two years ago JDT saved our asses against Ajax and this year Max did it against another Dutch team. And JDT didn't play in the final but we won so hopefully history will repeat this time as well and Max can sit on the bench and watch us win the game!

Okay, if he was fit last night, do you think Carlo would have brought him on at half time?

Eh, I wouldn't go that far

I think Max is a very rare type of player, so versatile that you can field him almost anywhere on the pitch ... In fact if I were a coach (which thankfully I'm not :D ), I would even go as far as fielding him as a striker if I was short on any 'cause his goal scoring ability is rather impressive too ... He's got both defensive and offensive qualities which make him ideal for the midfield though; I always fail to understand how can someone in their right mind bench such a wonderful player :head:

FORZA MAX!!!

Firstly welcome to the forum :)

I think you've noticed by now that there's a specific thread for each player in the Players forum, so I'm merging this with Ambrosini's special thread there :)

On the other hand... In fact if I were a coach of Milan... I would feild Max as a defender, now that Maldini is coming to age, I think Max could be a great defender as a replacement to Maldini. Pity Milan havenwt place fpr him in the 11. :(

My only concern if Max was fielded in a defender's position is the number of penalties our opponents' would get  He is quite aggressive sometimes but that's just his style of play and I believe it's a very important trait in a midfielder.

Anyways, a new Max fan in the house, welcome to the forums :)

Aggressive player in the defence is a good think... not bad. Am shore Max is professional enough to be more cautious in the 16.

AMBROSINI: 'Moment to reap what has been sown'
8/23/2005
MILANELLO - Massimo Ambrosini was the centre of attention at the
afternoon press conference. The midfielder, who has had a positive
pre-season, talked about the team: 'This season I want to see us
crowned as we were in seasons past. Last year we sowed a lot, in Italy
and in Europe, but we didn't reap anything. This team must have the
right anger to play with the same intensity as years past. Now
obviously the objective is more important the closer we get. We are
thinking about Ascoli and will go there to win our first game in the
league.'

Maybe Ambro could do Gattuso's job better than Gattuso does it, plus you're guaranteed some goals with Ambrosini.

Ambrosini plots Azzurri return!

Milan’s Massimo Ambrosini has set himself the objective of being included in Italy’s 2006 World Cup squad. The midfielder has lost his way in the national set-up recently after struggling to become a first team regular at the San Siro.

But Ambrosini has told Azzurri boss Marcello Lippi that he is looking to seriously impress him this term. "The new season will be fundamental for my return to the national side," said the tough tackling ace. "I really want to take part at the World Cup Finals in Germany next summer."
