    Official: Zlatan Ibrahimović Thread II

Ex-Aberdeen goalkeeper on Ibrahimovic: If there’s one thing that’s riled me more than most “opinions” in football over the last 10 years it’s people telling me Zlatan Ibrahimovic is crap. Well, I say “people” but of course I mean “idiots”, saying the former Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan...

    Official: Zlatan Ibrahimović Thread II

Yyyyaaaayyyy everyone pay attention to Joey Barton. I'd like to draw a graph plotting the increasing frequency of Barton's attention-seeking gestures against his growing realisation that he's a mediocre footballer. I suspect there may be a correlation.

I'm not with you on your analysis of the goal - I think it was a bad mistake (as were Silva's and Zambrotta's) - but the fact that his performance was without the assistance of Gattuso is a big deal. Eto'o and Ronaldo both wanted to cut inside, so Abate could just usher them towards Gattuso or...

You forgot Zanetti, Sage. He has his own name tattooed on him. I respect that. Also, Maicon is a selfish player - that's what really irritates me about him. I don't think Alves is selfish or lazy.

I think Allegri's quite happy to have a more defensive full back alongside his marking centre back, so a lot of the more attacking players you've listed are irrelevant. Maicon - irrelevant, declining, increasingly disinterested, arsehole Lahm - (less athletic, more balanced, much...

Predictably, he dealt very well with Pedro's pace. Thankfully, Pedro never forced him engage his brain. Made a royal arse of it for the first goal though. A great athlete and a fierce competitor who sticks to his task, but still not a technically good defender or an intelligent footballer.

Ah, Sala. Joins Baresi in an exclusive group of players who've both won the Scudetto and been relegated during their careers. (there's probably loads more)

I'll be interested to see the direction his development takes. His combination of pace and aggression, combined with a decent amount of strength, can get a modern full back a long way. But if he's going to take the next step, he needs to add something. There's two options. 1. Become a...

    Ignazio Abate Thread

Other than one very good cross early on, I'm not sure what people saw in his performance. He got completely done by Eto'o more than once, getting booked in the process and forcing Gattuso to try and do one and a half players' work. Other than that, his main contribution that I can recall was a...

And that's exactly what they'll do. If he doesn't get isolated in open spaces, he's still one of the best. Do people think he's just forgotten how to defend?
