The group stage is almost pointless.

2 first teams from each group and 4 (from 6) from 3rd spot qualify to 1/8. More teams qualify to next stage than goes home - 16 qualify vs 8 go home ... WTF!:fp::lol:

The new format is ridiculous really. Platini and his jackassery.

Groups E and F winners are theoretically at a disadvantage in the first knockout stage because they meet second placed teams. Other group winners meet third placed teams.

This.

Winning Group E (or F) is effectively the same as coming second in Groups A or B. You get a MUCH harder road in the knockout stages if you come out of Group E or F.

http://imgur.com/25DsW8V - image showing the simulated probability of winning from the six different groups in the EURO 2016 (Teams from group E has an approximate 28% less chance of winning than teams from group A).
Group A has the best outcome from the simulations, which could also be seen from just looking at the playoff-structure (the winners of group A) move on to face runner-ups in the quarter-finals.

France is automatically put into group A.

Who plays ahead of Diarra ?

With payet out there , it would be lame to put Giroud on the bench.

cabaye obviously

france should be limited to 1 arsenal player in the starting line up, you don't want the loser effect to spread.

Lass has been solid this year. Deserves his recall.

Sagna/Jallet - Varane - Koscielny - Evra
Payet - Diarra/Kante - Pogba/Matuidi - Matuidi/Pogba
Griezmann - Martial/Giroud

Transformable into a 4-3-3 with Payet-Griezmann-Martial
Pogba and Matuidi are mostly interchangable

That's an excellent defense, that will be shielded by a defensively solid midfield. Only real worry is the RB.
Definitely no martial in starting line-up.
Yea I forgot about Giroud. He should probably start if Payet starts. But Martial is a great option to have.

Martial wouldn't even be considered for a squad spot if he wasn't playing for United.

His time will come but not this tournament.

Where is Ben arfa btw ?

He's already done well in a couple of friendlies. Plus he does actually play well for United, especially considering he plays for United.

How does France line up with both Pogba and Matuidi btw ? Don't they occupy the same position (LCM) ?

Pogba played right

Deschamps is such a dickhead. Still hasn't locked down Laporte, who's still eligible to play for Spain. Just give him 2 mins and if he sucks, never call him up again, simple as that. :fp:

Didn't Deschamps want to call Koulibably but found out he already played for another country ?

Gameiro should be called up imo , he is scoring goals for Sevilla.

why is he calling up Sissoko btw ?

Edit : my boy Gameiro ?

Schweinsteiger out for the season, doubtful for Euros

I'm guessing Kimchi will be called up to replace him? :g:
