This was such a shit show from the start.

They clearly needed 15 teams to even have a hope of pulling this off. Bayern, PSG and Dortmund not signing up = this was dead before it even started. No representation from Germany or France.

But they went with it anyway. With "12 members signed up, and 3 more top clubs expected to join." How exactly were Bayern, PSG, Dortmund going to be persuaded? What was the plan, guys??? In particular how the fuck were Bayern and Dortmund going to be expected to be persuaded considering the 50+1 rule and obviously no German fans would sign up for this?

Without Germany or France it was always dead on arrival. But they just said "fuck it, we'll do it anyway!" Idiots.

Oh and also they clearly didn't expected even 25% as much backlash as this plan received... Especially in England. Caught totally off guard.

This has to be one of the BIGGEST fiascos in the history of sport and business.

:proud:
If they say tomorrow, coffee beans are actually white, people will believe it.

Anyway, back to reality.

according to il Corriere della Sera (via MilanLive) the Rossoneri management are ‘continuing to cultivate a different market dream’ and a potential free transfer too in Memphis Depay.

He is a very technical and dynamic player and not really an old-style centre-forward but a converted winger who has shown that his movements have enough to more than trouble teams. Paolo Maldini hopes to convince the Dutchman to join Milan as the player has decided not renew his contract.

There are two obstacles, the first being the high salary requested by Depay, who at Lyon already receives about €4.3m net per season and will certainly expect a higher figure from his next team. Then, there is the competition from elite clubs like Barcelona.

However, Milan could still convince him with a tempting project, especially in case of qualification to the next Champions League. He would be able to rotate with his former team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic to ensure an attack of quality for next season.

They knew that UEFA couldn't do anything, but didn't calculate that goverments can get invloved and create restrictive laws.
If EPL clubs start shedding more money or their debts catch up to them, it may change
And this is the part that is what is absolutely shit about it.

Governments actively working to create a monopoly for UEFA and FIFA.

While the ESL was obviously flawed and anti competitive, what happens when the next time a genuine and sane breakway plan is cocked up but blocked again due to government interference.

Are folks really gonna say with a straight face that the ESL is worse than UEFA and FIFA? arguably some of the most corrupt organisations in the world. Atleast the ESL were straight up about what their intentions were, even if sugarcoating it.

What are you talking about? What was blocked? They could go and form the league and play their hearts out. The league wasnt blocked, what was blocked was EPL clubs participating in the national league.

You cant expect them to shit and spit on EPL and over all UK cities and expect them to get away with it. Did you really expect that the politicians wont do anything? If there ever was a reason for politics to get involved in sports this was it.

Fuck sitting on both chairs. You either play by our rules or GTFO. Noone said they cant go. But if you are going to play in our league you will respect the rules of rewards and relegation. Fuck ESL. Rather watch Milan getting 7th place for next 10 years than cheating our way and drown the importance of Seria A with it.

Italian TV presenter Piero Chiambretti claims a massive shake-up is due Inter Milan.

Despite appearing champions-elect Inter face losing both the coach and general manager this summer, claims Chiambretti.

Speaking on Tiki Taka, he declared: "Giuseppe Marotta could return to Juventus, whilst Antonio Conte could return to England.

"I have my own informants in Turin who gave me the news."

Nice.

UEFA and FIFA are corrupted money whores to their bones. So was ESL. That's the truth. One could pick a side, there were many good points made for both sides.

But stop pretending this whole fiasco was "the poor people vs. the rich bad entities". It's not. One corrupted money shit show won over the other because it did a better job at manipulating folks into believing their doing it for them.

If this whole plan would be organized together with the domestic leagues it would maybe work and everyone would support the new league against UEFA.

But rich boys wanted to form a closed league with a pitty party award for a few outthere. Wanted to form a league where domestic competitions wouldnt matter anymore and still they had the guts to say that they want to participate in the leagues. Getting money from both sides while skyrocketing the market value of one and drowning the value of other toghether with all other domestic clubs. Its a spit to the face for every league, club and fan.

Its sickening.

Learn to spell properly first and instead of a dyslexic 5 year old child before giving others advice.

I couldnt give two shit about the ESL. It was just another money grabbing ploy from the rich in a series of them.

But folks make me laugh when make it seem as if it was some rich vs the poor scenario where the poor prevailed. It wasnt. It was just a bunch of corrupted assholes going against each other and a game to see who blinked first.

There was one reason and only one reason to support the ESL. And this is to fuck UEFA and FIFA over.

Unless there are some radical changes made to football, this game will be dead and buried beforw long.

Would people still support the ESL if we were qualifying year in year out into the CL? Probably not. The only reason why people support this is the reasont that we have been a badly run club with no vision.

And that is our fault and not enough of a reason to form a superleague and forget our history and heritage and play 70min long games so 16 year old kids can follow.

We?ve been shit and now lets slowly move on from there in a reformed system that worked for us before.

The problem is not only because we were badly run.
The current system is bad, look at the debts of all clubs. That is not ok to have billions of debts with revenue close to 0.
With current system, one year out of CL and you are fucked.
Let's see what happens in a few years, but if nothing changes, there will be bankruptcies and crisises.
Clubs are run badly, so they had a plan how to fix it on their own. Now what? Governments will help those clubs? Same fans who were against SL will cry that it's not fair

Would like to see how players and coaches would react when agent fees and salaries are capped

It's been a badly run club by the two previous owners, B&G and then Yonghong Li. Yet the current owners who are doing tremendously well given the circumstances and the miserable events who lead to them taking over got a maxi punishment.

How is being punished for another's failures just in your eyes?

I could get behind the idea that some kind of punishment had to be done... Maybe a lifetime ban for the old owners from any kind of football activities. Burry them under a sick load of law suits that makes them bleed even more money.

But nope, Yonghong is chilling in China and Silvio enjoying his Monza, while the ones who payed are the ones who had nothing to do at all with said failures.

Again: how's that just?

UEFAs idea of justice is odd. It's to install a system that makes sure that who's rich stays rich and who's trying to climb the latter has to do it under such severe restrictions that it's close to impossible. And if they try nonetheless and the taken risk doesn't pay back, what's the punishment? Widening the gap even more by taking them away the one and only real possibility to actually close that gap.

It's not that far from ESL, really. How many times did a little poor club win the CL in the past 20 years? Porto once? And then? Where is that ominous but often mentioned meritocracy in all of this?

Sure, ESL is flawed af and probably not even that much better. But as long as no one takes a stand against UEFA and FIFA people will realize soon enough that what they were fighting for in the last 48 hours has already died long time ago.

Go on Boris, feck 'em up!

It is not to destroy. It is to harness the EPL money by transferring them to the Super League.

giphy.gif

The English teams are the 1st to back out because they have the most to lose due to their lucrative EPL money. Without the EPL teams the Super League is not attractive.

The SL is collapsing in the worst possible way.
English clubs stabbed everyone in the back and killed any chance of reforming European competitions.

Plan A should have been pushing through with SL.
Plan B should have been forcing UEFA to reform CL and EL.

EPL fucked it all up.

p.s. The probability of top clubs fixing current flaws in SL format was a lot higher than UEFA fixing European football.

That's why I am pretty upset it all fell apart.

Well this was certainly a shock to the system.

Right now it feels like something broke and don't exactly go back together again. If this was only public negotiation it looks like a spectacular failure as of now.

What a ludicrous embarrassment, Agnelli with a full page interview today exclaiming the ESL as a blood pact :fp:

how future and legacy fans feel about being blood brothers with inter and juve??

The problem is not only because we were badly run.

doubt salaries cap would be on 6-7 millions gross, rather 12-20.
and how many players get more?? how many would protest?? cant see many fans supporting messi protest because he cant get 125m/y from all agreements with club.

The big 6 in the EPL will get financially rewarded for returning home to UEFA.

Milan were only invited in to the ESL to make up the numbers and shall be punished accordingly.

think rich owners dont have much connections with the clubs they bought, with fans, etc - elliott, kronke, glaziers, etc.
they expected hype train rather than protests - just look on modern super heroes movies - 5 or more in one movie to gather all fans... lets make football super league
but personally i think english gov made the difference
