Depends on what hype you were believing in.
Given the chaotic circumstances this team has had the last couple of years, he's done very good and been one of our best players. Don't know how much more you can ask for from a young defender.
His real challenge starts now though, I think he's gonna see a lot of bench time with Bonucci and Musacchio in front of him. Not necessarily a bad thing, he can develop in peace. See Varane at Madrid as comparison.

He has done very well based on the quality of his partners. A young defender needs an experienced older defender next to him in order to grow even more. Look at the partners of the other young defenders:
Verane - ramos/peep
Gimenez - godin
Marquinhos - silva/benatia
Rugani - bbc
... and the you have romagnoli - zapata/mexes/paletta lool.

You know how some people are, they rather see a Milan player fail just to be "proven right". And when they don't fail, it's "he didn't live up to the hype".

Not really. I Just expected more from him since people painted him to be otherwordly. I know you can only do so much as a defender but he just hasn't convinced me as much as he has others. That's all there is to it really.
I'd love for him to prove me wrong in doubting him but as soon as you voice an unpopular opinion then all of a sudden you are labeled negatively, you know how some people are.
