In a defensive phase it could look like a 4411 which is kinda similar to what we've been seeing so far in defense

I would like to see the alternative formation. Other than that, Bonaventura is way to offensive to play as a midfielder. He should play on the wings.

Messi could play too as a CB, he wouldn't lose his skills but a Pique, who isn't as good in technical aspects as Messi, would do better in this position.

At them moment I think we should try something basic like a 4-4-2

Bona---Monto---DeJong---Cerci
Amero-Rami-Mexes/Alex-Abate

After Honda returns we should consider the 4-3-2-1 with Bona+Honda behind Menez. I think its no coincidence that we played well with it, because you have a strong mid of 5 and especially 2 players ready to play the through ball.

the sad part is honda is not a solution of any kind. i do to think we should play with more players in front of the defense.

sell el shaarawy, montolivo and muntari along with essien.. try to bring hamsik, inler.. cavani, they already knows each other and could take less time to fix the team.

the situation is pretty annoying.. but pippo-sheva-rui costa were hopeless for milan too.. and wasnt money that resolve the problem.. details.. some pieces in defense and specially pirlo playing..

imo.. sadly.. pippo doesnt have the experience to change this moment..

to play 4-4-2 need much more work than any other squeme... needs a realy good defensive line.. that will make and keep the intensity and volume of your game.. pippo doesnt have a defensive line.. 50% of his line played only 2 games for milan..

the more he changes the starters in that line.. more useless will be his work during the week at milanelo.. thats why looks like the team doesnt do any training at all at milanelo.

Except the midfield, I think our players are mostly fine. Good enough to get 3rd place with the right coach, which of course we don't have. Allegri got 3rd place two seasons ago with a legitimately inferior squad to the current one.

I think we need two strikers and two sitting midfielders, we didn't score enough last season and our defence is so weak that it could do with two guys protecting it. Which is sad to say considering the defences we used to have.
