Costa do Sauipe set for Final Draw
Sand dunes, palm trees, lagoons, rivers, the diversity of the Atlantic Forest and the Atlantic Ocean lying adjacent next to it. This is the setting for the Costa do Sauipe in the Brazilian state of Bahia, widely venerated as a dream holiday location.

However, on 6 December 2013, this tourist hotspot on the Bahia coastline, 76km from Salvador, will host an event that will give 32 people plenty to worry about. We are speaking, of course, about the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ Final Draw and its impact on the coaches of the 32 qualifying national sides.

The draw will take place at 13.00 local time and, from that moment on, with teams knowing who their adversaries and groups are, it will be a time not only for coaches and players, but for the millions of anxious fans located in all corners of the world – to start the guesswork, fill in the tables, and dream of victory.

“On this day, Planet Football will have its eyes trained on Bahia’s Costa do Sauipe," FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke wrote in one of his columns, with preparations for the tournament ongoing. "The group draw is in itself an event, with television audiences in the hundreds of millions around the entire world, the same number we see for a FIFA World Cup match.”

And FIFA.com will provide complete coverage of not only of the Final Draw, but of everything happening on the Costa do Sauipe in the days leading up to the event. In addition to reporting every detail of the event in real-time, our coverage will also be packed with exclusive interviews with key figures from world football, group analysis and our already-customary space for interaction with those online. Stay tuned: 6 December is the day the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil takes shape!

So, friday the 6th of december at 13 PM local time the draw will take place. Click here for a world clock.

The draw set-up has been made today (link). Here is how the 4 pots look like:

Final draw pot allocations

POTS

Pots 1-4 will be populated as follows:
o Pot 1 – Seeded teams (8) *
o Pot 2 – Africa (5), South America (2)
o Pot 3 – Asia (4), North and Central America & Caribbean (4)
o Pot 4 – Europe (9)

* Seeded teams
• Brazil (host)
• 7 top teams from FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking October 2013
o 4 European teams: Belgium, Germany, Spain, Switzerland
o 3 South American teams: Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay

They will draw as followed.

Final draw procedure - Principles
PRINCIPLES

1. Geographic Separation
• Teams of the same Qualification Zone cannot be drawn into the same Group
o Exception: Maximum of 2 European teams may populate any one Group

2. Order of Draw

• Pots emptied in order: 1 through 4
• Groups filled sequentially: A through H
o Exception: Groups may be skipped to maintain principle of geographic separation

3. Positioning of Teams

• Seeded teams → Teams from Pot 1 automatically assigned position “1” of Group into which they are drawn
o Brazil → assigned position 1 of Group A
• Non-seeded teams → Teams from Pots 2, 3 and 4 will have their positions randomly drawn

Final draw procedure - Procedures
PROCEDURES

1. In order to create an even flow to the draw as Pots 1-4 are emptied, we begin by drawing one ballfrom Pot 4 (containing a European team) and placing it into Pot 2 to achieve an equal balance of eight teams in each pot.

2. Pot1 will then be emptied beginning with Brazil; teams will be allocated to position 1 of Groups A through H sequentially

3. With the addition of the European team to Pot 2, Pot 2 will contain teams from three different qualification zones. With teams from three zones in the same pot, we increase the risk of inadvertently violating the principle of geographic separation. In order to ensure we do not mistakenly end up with three European teams in the same Group, the following mechanism will be implemented:

o The four seeded South American teams will be placed in an ancillary pot–Pot X
o One of the four teams will be drawn
o The Group of the South American which is drawn will determine the Group which the European team from Pot 2 will join

4. Pot 2 will then be emptied, beginning with the European ball
o The European team will join Group of South American team drawn from Pot X
o The remaining teams will be allocated to Groups A through H sequentially
o Note: Groups may be skipped to respect principle of geographic separation; e.g. Chile and Ecuador may not be drawn into Groups with seeded South American teams.

5. Pots 3 and 4 will then be emptied in order

6. The positions within Groups A through H will be drawn for all teams of Pots 2, 3 and 4

First saw world cup Espana '82, didnt understand a shit. Mexico '86 Maradona was the reason i love this sport.
The best world cup for me was USA '94 and Germany '06. Korea-Japan was the worst one.

First was Italia 90, was on holiday in Italy at the time and when Italy hit knocked out there was a factory that was draped in black cloth afterwards. Also Rijkaard spitting on Voller, great stuff.

Yep, unless you make too many substitutions like the Spanish.

Australia lets do this :star:

if that rehearsal group was legit we would have absolutely no chance of getting out of the groups.

"I'd say Fifa should reconsider the draw issue in future," Italy's coach told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Everybody can see something isn't right with the current system. Are we looking at the Fifa Ranking? Alright, we're seventh again now and have been among the top seven countries for about two-and-a-half years.

"Yet we're only looking at October. That's a bit ridiculous. That makes it a bizarre situation."

fifa is a joke

Yeah, lol; looks tough.

We got Netherlands, Portugal and Germany at the Euro's, but France, Italy and Brazil might just be a tougher group.

I think you have very little chances of qualifying from whatever group, this is by far the weakest Australian team in the last decade.
