Alberto Gilardino: Milan Fans Are Ungrateful

Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino has taken another swipe at former club Milan, revealing that he was never shown any gratitude by the fans at San Siro.

The Italian international spent three years at the club, but he failed to reach peak form and, as a result, he was often left on the bench as he struggled to find the net. Gilardino joined Fiorentina last summer and returned to the San Siro two weeks ago as his side lost 1-0 to the Rossoneri.

‘Gila’ was not shown a great deal of respect by his former supporters as he they booed and jeered his presence. The hitman has now spoken out against the Milan faithful

"Milan fans whistled? Well they were probably scared of me. Unfortunately there is no recognition in football," the striker told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"The goals I scored at Milan in three years have been forgotten."

The former Parma man played against Juventus last week and he had a perfect goal disallowed for offside. Gila has called for the use of technology to help assists match officials with their work.

"The goal against Juve was good," continued Gilardino.

"It would have been good for our league position. Anyway, I have the trust of everyone around me.

"I also think that the use of technology in football would help. They use it in other sports."

He basically said he was happy with the decision he made. Nothing more.

You can't stand him coz he said this?

"I found such an extraordinary welcome in Florence, it really was fantastic," Gilardino told Max magazine.

"I earn less, but it is well worth it."

This translates to 'Rather be @ Fio with less pay than @ Milan'?

I think i've been reading madtherchot's posts too much......blind hate is taking me over too :D

I apologise for jumping to conclusions....I guess I'm guilty of letting my biased hatred towards a player get the better of my reason/common sense. Post edited. Apologies to all and to Gila too :) I'm officially a dumbass

Jeered (and my claim is supported by Clarence Seedorf). That was one of the other things I cringed at, I remember our games at San Siro last season, the first ball touch he made and it was all jeerings. And let's not even talk how ugly it was when he was subbed for Pippo. Cringe worthy.

Meh now that its been a while since he left. He was okay. We saw w/ sheva he was very potent attack. Combine they had 36 goals and we scored 85 in serie A that year. Should he have arrived on a lower fee w/ lower expectations like borriello, bet he wouldn't have been jeered and sent off.

above all, dru you should understand, when we lost any sort of width and service from wide he couldnt score as regularly.

lots of players drifted in and out of form...no problem....What I can't forgive is acting like you're the shit when you're clearly shit...then there's the diving.....waiting on the top of the box ALL GAME LONG for the ball etc...oh did I mention that he missed a penalty and acted like it was nothing even though that was our sole chance to score?...Playing-wise he was marginally tolerable. Personality wise esp his dumbass comments pissed me off...If it was so hard to score how come Pippo at nearly 10 years his senior replaced him and started burning the nets??
Mr."I'll replace Sheva" :head:

It would be good to see Gilardino celebrate because we rarely received that experience during his time in Milan.

Where do you think he keeps the violin that he pulls out every time he scores? *Hint* he speaks from there as well

Well, I would've thought he left it in Germany during the World Cup, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had it stored in his cake hole.

lol, well Gila was crap but Borriello or Huntelaar aren't much better. He had a good period when he partnered Ronaldo as well, still gutted that Ronie couldn't stay uninjured.

In the end, for Milan ... Gila > Ronaldo. So whatever pathetic things you say about Gila, just know that Ronaldo was epically worse.

Though it was kind of obvious from the word go.

Hope he fires blanks today :D

One could argue that Ronaldo helped Milan more for the CL 2007 campaign than Gila did.

Please ... be my guest. There's no way one, using logic, would come to such a conclusion.

BTW Drushit ... you've been going on and on about Maldini saying something about Ronaldo being important for UCL 07? Kindly post a link. I'd like to read it. There obviously must be a catch ;)

Poor guy, hope he rediscovers his form for NT. He could very well be a crucial player in Euro2012...

I kind of hope he moves to Juve, Serie A is at its best when the top teams are at their best and I am curious what Gilla could do with another year at a big club and with good support from that midfield

named captain of Italy in the friendly tomorrow. Clear favoritism by Prandelli, Gilla just hasnt been playing that well lately, I think Matri would have been a better partner to Rossi.

Still, hope Gilla plays well
