True words of a legend
ALESSANDRO NESTA is happy with the players Milan have in defense.
Milan have reinforced their defense this summer, even though it was the best defense in Italy and one of the best worldwide, with the signings of Taye Taiwo and Philippe Mexes – but both can’t play on Saturday.
The Rossoneri take on Inter in three days for the Supercoppa Italiana and the team is already in Beijing, China, getting ready for the important encounter. Defense leader, Sandro Nesta spoke to the press.
“Last season the Milan defence did well, especially in the second half of the season. We conceded just 7 goals in the last 19 league matches, which is not an easy achievement,” Nesta said in a press conference.
“For the new season we have some world class defenders: Thiago Silva has remained, Philippe Mexes and Taye Taiwo have arrived. I think those players will makes our defensive line strong.”
It is Nesta’s 10th season with the Milan shirt and he will turn 36 next March. However, he doesn’t feel like retiring yet and he says today that even after he hangs up his boots, he will still work in the football world.
“This huge enthusiasm for us is down to the fact we are getting old, so we have a lot of fans because they have been able to watch us down through the years,” the former Lazio captained told Chinese reporters.
“I hope to keep on playing as long as I can and put back my retirement as far as possible. I see my future still in the world of football, although I don’t know exactly in which role right now.”
