Dida staying, insist Milan

Milan claim that goalkeeper Nelson Dida will stay at the club next season – even if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

Talks between both parties concerning a renewal have stalled which did lead to claims that Dida could be sold as his present deal expires in 2007.

But the Italian giants maintain that the Brazil’s World Cup ‘keeper will still be guarding the Rossoneri net for the next 12 months.

“Our position as a club with regard to Dida has not changed,” said director general Ariedo Braida.

“If Dida decides that he doesn’t want to renew, then we will just have to accept his decision.

“But all that would mean is that Nelson will stay at Milan next season and will then be free to decide his future destination.”

The South American did have a nightmare campaign at the San Siro after some costly errors for the club.

Meanwhile, Milan-owned custodian Christian Abbiati is being associated with a move to Torino this summer.

Abbiati, an Italian international, spent last term on loan at Juventus and played a key role in their Scudetto success.

Oh, will you relax? Ridiculous rumors notwithstanding,it was obvious he wasn't going anywhere for the upcoming season, and the fact that he was Brazil's best player at the World Cup pretty much cemented that. This season will definitely decide his future with us (providing we don't get relegated). Heck, maybe if he hadn't been blamed for Milan's screwups at the beginning of this year, he might've re-signed already, but I digress. No one really knows why he hasn't extended.

I would hate to see him go, but if he moves on, so what? He's won pretty much everything with Milan. Plus, it's time folks got off the bandwagon that Buffon is the magic potion that's going to cure our problems. And Milan can give Abbiati a permanent address in Timbuktu as far as I'm concerned.

buffon?

No disrespect... but if we could get Buffon we should... and it would be a good move a year before the end of the contract to sell Dida to Manchester Utd. if he stays as nr.1 I will still be more than happy... I we need is a striker... and a young defender...

We need a whole lot of changes in the team altogether, rather than just the insistence on overhauling the keeper spot. We have bigger fish to fry.

We should be far more concerned about Galliani's bullshit signings (Favalli, etc.).

Nope. Most of the guys got extra time off due to playing in the World Cup.

Say what? I guess you didn't watch any of Brazil's games. Dude, try making an ounce of sense next time you post.

Dida still refuse to sign the new contract.... It looks he would want to leave Milan + Milan still try to get Buffon more than save Dida stay.

I just realized something. Here's an interesting stat...the most visible games he messed up in - Parma, Samp, both Inter matches, the second leg of the Lyon series - were all played at home. A majority of his best performances last season were on the road.

I'm sure he has nothing against the home fans, but maybe he just felt some kind of pressure while playing in front of the San Siro crowd that affected him. I think that's definitely proving a factor in his hesitation to resign.

Well maybe he is still worried that some inter fan might throw a foreign object on him like they did which was probably a turning point in his career. I dont think he recovered from that and he hasnt been the same....

I don't doubt he wants to leave. Considering how Milan fed him to the lions last season after a few mistakes, he can hardly be blamed for not extending his contract.

...Which gives Milan a good reason to try to offload him now while they can still make some money. Unless I missed sth, there's nothing about him renewing his contract anywhere.

That's definitely good news. I'd completely forgotten that the game was being played today.
