Buffon Still Struggling Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is set to miss this weekend's home game against Cagliari due to his persistent back injury
Buffon continues to be unavailable for the Bianconeri, and will miss another game on Sunday, as Cagliari visit the Old Lady at the Olimpico.
It has even been suggested that a corrective surgery would be needed, ruling him out for months. However, in what will come as welcome news to Juve fans, it seems that the Azzurri number one will not have to go under the knife.
Coach Claudio Ranieri is actually expecting Buffon to be back for the match against Udinese, though that might be a touch optimistic.
Buffon's biggest regret concerning the injury has been missing the encounter against Inter on Wednesday evening, in the second leg of the Coppa Italia quarter final, which Juventus lost 3-2 to go crashing out of the competition.
The former Parma goalkeeper will most likely play his next game with a protection for his back.
Azzurri coach Roberto Donadoni is concerned whether this will be enough to keep him fit for Euro 2008, and would rather corrective surgery took place to correct the problem once and for all.
However, the Bianconeri are adamant and do not want to lose Buffon for up to two months following surgery.
