He hadn't scored in 5 years before tonight, wasn't impressive in the previous two matches and missed a sitter in the first half tonight.

At first I thought it wasn't a PK and I'm of Greek descent. However, in reviewing it, there is clear obstruction as he contacts the foot coming forward from behind. Both of the analysts on the Canadian station I'm watching said it was clearly a PK. One was a former GK in the EPL and put it your way, "if that same contact occurred anywhere outside the box would it have been a foul?". Answer was: Yes.
