Very good of him and I hope he can be a starter with the time. I still hope Prandelli chooses Maggio for the real jobs tho. But definately a  for this call-up.

abate would rack up more time with the azzuri than Casillas does for Spain.

Abate playing his first gane against my NT on the new open stadium build for Euro 2012 - great, shame I can't be there.

About time, I really hope Abate can solidify his spot in the Azzuri Squad and starting XI.
I'm still amazed Prandelli took this long to call Abate up!

On a side note I'm amazed Prandelli hasn't called up Di Natale.

Abate :

"The national team is in a lens, but I grew up in Milan and AC Milan is my national team."

Monday 7 November, 2011 Abate worthy of Euro 2012

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has told Italy boss Cesare Prandelli to not underestimate the ability of Ignazio Abate.

The right-back has won his maiden call-up to the Italian national side for the friendlies against Poland and Uruguay this month.

Galliani, though, has made it clear that the former Torino player can be of use to the Azzurri on a long-term basis.

If Abate is considered as a player good enough to feature in the European Championship then it is right that he is part of the squad,” Galliani noted.

However, it would be wrong to just use him to plug some gaps for a couple of friendly games.

I think Abate deserves a place at Euro 2012 and not just in two friendly matches...

Abate is a graduate of the Milan youth system who, after spells at numerous other sides, re-joined the Diavolo in the summer of 2009.

Abate is one of two right-backs in the latest Italy squad, with the other being Napoli wing-back Christian Maggio.

Let's be honest, atm Maggio is better than Abate....

I bet Abate will be starter at the Euro. I always believed that and i still do.

Maggio doesn't play as good as he plays for Napoli in the national-team, so Abate 'just' has to play like he does for Milan and he will be the better option. Im optimistic in this case.

Few times I wanted so bad for a player to succeed here.

He loves the club, not the "I love until I leave to love other", but a guy that see the club like part of himself. This is the loyalty that goes beyond professionalism and contracts.

Also, I can't but have sympathy for a guy that had to fight so hard for everything he got.

+1. Been saying this for over a year.

He's our new gattuso, ambrosini, tassotti etc. players who make it on this level on pure will power and heeart and truly give all for the shirt and only that (not fame etc).

Every team needs a guy or two like this

He may not be world class, but sometimes when I catch myself trying to imagine how I'd like Milan to look like in some years, he's my starting right-back. I wouldn't trade him for any full-back in the world. It's been really hard to have a good home grown player, and I think he's one of that kind.

Hopefully, that's just the first of many call ups for the Italian NT. Maybe I'll be able to watch him live here in Brazil in 2014 World Cup :D

ill be cut if he scores tho lol, but i reckon it would redefine his approach with us. if he was to score for italia, then im sure he'd take chances for milan!

Brasillians who? :o

J/k, but imo players like Rino, Ignazio, Paolo are the 10x more valuable to club than any other player even with better qualities.

Forza Abate, you're new hero of Milan :star::star::star:
