The Milan right-back Ignazio Abate is set to win his first cap while the Inter centre-back Andrea Ranocchia has also been named in the provisional starting 11 after Juventus's Andrea Barzagli pulled out of the squad on Thursday with a calf injury.

Gave the ball away down the right a couple of times early on as he took his time getting over some early nerves, but grew into the game, even if he wasn’t as decisive as usual when getting into attacking positions

He was't bad. I would give him 6 easily. The defensive tactics are diferent than at Milan and Poland played very high with all formations. It was only a friendly and both teams played badly. Poland tried to play like Ajax from 90', Italy looked like they came to visit only. 1st goal solely Mario noticing horrible mistake by the polish GK. Second goal an offside my girlfriend even noticed, the referee didn't lol.
Abate played ok, didn't look like no worthy the team, played 90min too. I am sure he will go to Euro, maybe as a back up, but he will.

Well it was his first match with a new set of players . I hope he is given another match. The upcoming game Vs uruguay is a real challenge and if he does well he can make a strong case for himself.

He should get selected for Euro 2012. He can even get to start, he's defensive qualities are better than Maggio and he is much better than any other right back Italy has.

true , but maggio and cassani are pretty good too. They have been playing well with Italy so it will be tough. Italy has good options for right back . But its the cb pairing that worries me. I dont like any of the combo's. Gone are the days of nesta, canna....i have to look at the 6'5' frog trying to defend
