There's no perfect replacement for him. No one other than Montolivo really fits that role.

I can't imagine Montella going away from the lineup we saw against Chievo, but Mati will provide a layer of depth for the midfield and a solid substitution option.

Started doing better towards the end yesterday but his first 5-10 minutes were ATROCIOUS. His touch was worse than an amateurs.

I really hope he can get some consistency going and also gain some match fitness. He seemed rusty AF.

Obviously has technique and can be dangerous in the right position, but otherwise physically lacking.
