Reading this board and it's thread takes up way too much of my time, and I am not ashamed of it at all
.
Some of my thoughts from his first Serie A fixture (his first competitive game period) with Milan:
As a murrican, obviously I've watched puli play extensively over these last 3+ seasons I've watched puli play extensively with Chelsea and the national team. In that time I have rarely seen him play from the RW. So although I know without a doubt the kid has borderline WC ability. Hes talented technically, has high IQ, can take on defenders, has a nose for a goal, not afraid of the moment, can cross well, he can use either foot (scores goals and crosses well with both), has a good first touch, can dribble well, etc. But as I stated earlier that has been almost always from the left wing. With the national team he roams free and often will centralize himself at moments of the game. Similar to what leao did during the game yesterday. But that's always been while playing from the left side.
I hadn't really seen him play much on the right, so I wasn't sure how he would adapt and fare playing on the right. That was my worry about how he would fit into the squad, because Leao has that left side on lock
. I was confident he could adapt well over time but not sure. And then Chuk came in, and his spot immediately became threatened (as it should) He has to prove it on the field, and one could of only hoped he would of came out the gate so well. It was good to see him cut in, take on defenders, nut meg defenders, link up well with Giroud (led to his goal) and others, make solid runs, solid passes, nice crosses, and obviously his goal from the right side. That will give him, the rest of the team including Pioli a boost of confidence. I watched a fair amount of Milan games last season, and they were definitely hurting for some quality on the Right. If Leao was off, or like I've witnessed teams will double and triple down on him at times (as they should of) and forced the other side to create and it was non-existent.
The kid believes in himself and I believe in the right situation like Milan where he has a coach and squad that backs him that he will produce. He bet on himself going to Milan. In a mercato where plenty of players are going to Saudi
for the
he took a pay cut to go to Milan and attempt to prove himself at a big club. It was an amazing debut for him and became the first murrican to score goals in 3 of the top 5 leagues in the world. Which just shows the states has severely lacked In producing quality players historically. But he still has much to prove. Can he do it all season? Can he stay fit? Can he be consistent? Can he handle adversity? Can he prove to be a key/star player on a Scudetto/champions league contending squad? The jury is still out, but I hope he can deliver the goods and Milan ball tf out
