Impressed by both Max and Alex - what a card UFC 300 was.
It really lived up to the hype, amazing card. (well minus the china on china hug fest )

Who else has unified championships in multiple weight classes? Multiple weight classes with heavy weight one of them? (Or do generational greats jump faster like players who skip primavera)

He does look like Sagat actually, one badass motherfucker.

That staredown was epic & fairplay to Khalil aswell, i had some money on him, he was a massive underdog.

Don't care that I lost, really enjoyed that.

It’s like with all other professional sports, this is what happens when it gets mainstream

Uhmmm no man... Other sports been mainstream for a while. Football just recently went shit.

Maybe the world don't produce talent anymore. Just pure athletes.

And while I'm writing this I just realized when UFC went to shit.

USADA!!

People fight different when they don’t give a fuck about winning and is purely about kicking the guys ass or getting the definitive nod like KO or subs. And if they don’t get it, the score is there to just judge how the fight went. Establishing the scoring system was important for the legitimacy of the sport, but it’s also made it so boring to watch.

Nowadays, people try to game the score and try to do the least as possible. It arrived at this point sooner for mma than other sports bc the wear and tear on the body is a lot greater. It provides a lot more incentive to win by risking little (meta strategies) and financially maximizing your earnings by leveraging your record.

USADA definitely was a factor. And Dana tried that stupid bad ass mfer belt to get folks interested again, but it felt gimmicky af and like I rather just see the “bad ass” fighters who are in there to kick ass instead of using the system to win on under cards and consistently still give them fights.

You're right, back then it was mostly people wanting to beat the shit out of each other. Greater personalities, and more specialized in their craft. Fighters have really become MMA fighters not and few really stand out.

Do you believe the quality have dropped as well or are these nobodies better?

If you look at old Pride events, some guys lost all the time but always gave it their all so their career was never in jeopardy.

I think quality went up.

Also the presentation of it. If you had to make me pick, when the Fertitas sold the presentation of it all feels different

Isnt it insanely high since cro cop days? I loved 1998 Croatian nt jersey. The fighting skills now are insane.

Even in general population it is so high, a decade and half ago I have seen folks who know wrestling smashing huge tight ends in the bar now everybody is a weapon. So carry a weapon.

Now these monsters know how to grapple and smash. Absolute bonkers.

Everybody you knew has retired, all of the good personalities.

Nobody can stand out in the UFC or show any personality, they all have to wear the same shit

There is nobody funny, no Chael, no Rampage, just lots of corny people like O'Malley or Adesanya who wouldn't even appeal to me as a 13 y.o.

Everybody is now a champ or contender wrestler from Russia who i couldn't even pronounce the name, no stars anywhere.

Also oversaturation of events, far, far too many. Just like football.
