Yes but no.
Yes but no.
g prolly thinks he is majorly trolling inter by not selling abate to them.milito must be kicking himself that he got idiots like maicon and nagatomo at inter when a partnership with abate would have gotten him the ballon d'or.
Relax. Abate is a solid player when he plays in a solid backline.
Of course when you have a fine 30+ backline of Nesta - Bonera - Yepes, everyone looks like crap.
Abate was fine for 2 seasons, now he has 2-3 bad games and the horde is yelling "Sell".
Abate is the least of our problems.
And the people yelling "use Di Sciglio from now on" are either trolling or stupid.

So, in other words he is only as good as the players around him.
Abate is an OK player, he is reliable, but he is much weaker to other RBs in the league (Lichtsteiner, Maggio, Maicon) .. this is because he has no final product when he goes forward, and eventhough he is solid defensively, he is also prone to the odd mistake such as vs Inter in the first derby.
I would like to swap him for Van der Weil, even if we have to pay a bit. If not, use De Sciglio and sell Abate to upgrade the midfield. Antonini and De Sciglio can play RB from now on.
His biggest weakness is definitely attacking contribution. If he could improve that, he would be on par with other top fullbacks of Serie A. Take for example crossing.
FFS, it's not like you need a one in a million talent to be able to cross. These things can be practiced and learned.
Why can't he or Antonini for the life of them put a cross on target?
Because they are sh..... mediocre at best.
I was all for him taking this offseason to work on his crossing and one twos to be able to get separation but after seeing De Sciglio its like a breath of fresh air. Then I watched some epl and even their crap fullbacks know how to create some space to put in crosses.
He can stay and he definitely should work on his game but should not be automatic ahead of the kid.

Because the only forward that we have that would go to a good cross in most of the time with the medical staff. The other one-maybe (Maxi), I have not see much of his aerial game. The other 4 do not thrive at all in the aerial game.
