Rafa Leao and his father went to Casa Milan, but they did not meet with management. They went there to buy... a dozen shirts. [Sky]

When I was young, Rivera. Many more since then.
I get all the love for Ancelotti….really I do.

But don’t you guys sometimes feel like he turned his back on us when we needed him most? (Peak banter era)

We were really struggling back then…

Can you blame him, though?

We were a complete mess back then. It was our worst days with B&G (what soured me on the pair despite the glorious era that preceded it). Very poor player choices, a combination of limited funds + Galliani's chasing "parametro zero" signings (on high salaries) + Berlu's obsession with strikers well past their prime (despite having a dysfunctional midfield) + Galliani's love for Raiola's and Preziosi's expensive fodder. When people complain about MMM's bad decisions (and they have made some), they clearly forgot who we had prior to them (including Fassobelli and Leo). Then there was Berlu telling the coach what to do, entitled players not listening to anyone, Galliani feuding with Barbara, etc. A complete s**t show.

Also, not sure what Carletto's deal was when he was sacked by RM, but he probably would have lost serious money had he joined us. And for what? Doubtful he would have been able to do much and it certainly would have not helped his reputation.

It would have ruined his reputation a bit.

Look at what happened with Ronaldo with United when he came back. Capello’s 2nd tenure with us was absolutely awful as well. The signs in that period would have looked like Ancelotti would have failed through no fault of his but it could have still dented his legacy with us somewhat.

And the environment to succeed was not there. A complete shitshow. Ancelotti wouldn’t have done much, his legacy would have taken a bit of a hit. Career suicide frankly. His coaching career would have taken a hit if he had an unsuccessful period which was 99% gonna happen.

With him rejecting us back then, his period at Milan 01-09 is still looked at very fondly.

I’m actually very glad he rejected. Milan had many issues back then, no coach would have made it work and would be used as an unfair scapegoat. Wouldn’t have been fair on Carlo to go through that.

Don't care about Messi, but Pele is one of the biggest frauds of all time

The guy had a great marketing team. Made everyone believe he was the best in the world, when he was never even the best in his own country
OTOH, his football predictions have always been great :-)

Jokes aside, I grew up when Pele was considered the top player in the world, so I am kind of partial to him.

EDIT: should add that my grandparents lived a few years in Brazil during Pele's best days, and my grandma (who loved football) was a huge fan. So, respect!

Lukaku is heading back to Chelsea it seems.
Imaging a figure like him leading our attack.

I would be hard pressed to argue that OFFICIALLY Messi isn't the goat.
He isn't MY GOAT for a million reasons....but objectively I have no issues if he is treated as such.

BEP on the other hand is eternally the most overrated fuck in the entire universe

Oh and Carlo...could you please NOT concede 4 fucking goals every time I have an argument with Wild ffs :max:

Just saw a video of R9 the other day during his Barca and Inter days. Damn, every defender out there was constantly trying to tackle him in a way that would literally destroy his career (like for real). But he does things to get away it's incredible. Sometimes dribbling. Sometimes simply accelerate and run through them as if they were thin air. Like... I dunno if that's the worst description of R9... But he's kinda as technical and lightweight as Messi but still as athletical and dominant as CR7. At least in that video.

Really put some perspective to nowadays football where you know, someone nearly puts his hand on Theos shoulders and he falls as if he just got shot in his guts by a terrorist, leaving him to bleed out on the spot in pure agony - and for everyone that's kinda normal. We watch football and don't even think about how theatrical it has become anymore.

Ah, found that video (one really has to watch the whole thing to get the whole spectrum):

Really insane player during a time where defenders would literally try to murder the attackers. Impressive stuff. Don't know if Messi would have survived, especially in his early days.

It's gonna be very fucked up without Tonali vs merda. Don't know who's gonna play there... I know who won't 🤣

The time when football shoes were still black, and when players actually tried to dribble past players

He is insane player. If we had him now with leao we would win everything. Just sit deep with 9 men and give the ball to leao or Ronaldo on the midfield😊They dribble and score a goal anyway. I thing he would be better than giroud and origi😁
