I think Conte wants to get fired, so that people can say he left Spurs in top 4 when he left, even though he played 2 more games.

He said the sort of shit enough frustrated fans would agree with to make himself look like a martyr. He also can maintain his reputation.

Yes, part of it is deflection, and yes he's prone to emotional outbursts, but I think he's trying to maintain his profile because taking the Spurs job is a sign you are on the decline and he has a better reputation in England than he does in Italy. I think he wants to position himself to return to Chelsea if they sack Potter.

Gerry going back to Milano this week for the new stadium. Maybe he can hire Conte while he’s there

Conte is not a good fit for Milan or our project. Only thing he does well is get some money by complaining.

That said, Carlo might be free soon :proud:

We should get the coach from Dortmund, or someone in that mound

Germany has tons of great coaches
Yeah, I have a feeling we'll probably get an unknown or unexpected coach. De Zerbi seems like a hard reach because Brighton won't allow him to leave without us paying around 13m to release his contract. Massara has history with Luis Enrique, but i'm not sure it's a good fit. I think this is mostly media speculation without any truth.

No way it's Conte or Ancelotti or any other high profile manager that doesn't fit our style. Klopp I think has an outside chance if we are willing to pay crazy money for a coach. The reality is probably that we have a dossier of coaches that can work and we will pick the best opportunity in the summer.

The only way I can see Pioli continuing is if we regain our dominance and playstyle. There's still time. Securing 4th place and a CL final will probably make it impossible for us to let him go. If we crash out to Napoli and end up squeaking into the top 4 at the last day, then we will probably end the relationship amicably in the summer and we move on to another coach. If we don't make top 4, it's a disaster and he's fired no questions asked.

My safe pick would probably be Italiano. I really like his bravery. He plays a 433 with intense high pressing, full backs that push up high and overlap, defends aggresive man marking with a crazy high line, plays with wingers that go one on one, with midfielders that crash into the box. His forwards usually are a false nine with the aim of playmaking more than being a traditional center forward.

He's a risk, but it's the sort of risk I think Maldini likes to take. I can see him thriving with a typical 11 of Maignan, Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo, Bennacer, Tonali, Kovacic, Saelemaekers, CDK, Leao. Seems like the sort of coach that would never use Giroud as a first choice, so he's my kind of guy. Hasn't been tested at a big club yet, but that hasn't stopped us before. I can imagine our analysts deciding that Italiano might be a great option to help develop our system further and improve our key players. That might even explain why we haven't yet renewed Giroud, since I doubt another coach would give him the same importance next season so he's waiting to see who the coach is before extending.

I get the sentiment, but what would gazidis have done when gerry doesn't want to have 2 coaches on the payroll?
i mean if pioli miss out on top 4, gerry will have no choice. if he survives this somehow, we really are the new udinese.

Vicenzo Italiano has done well. But I don’t know much about him except the times we played against him.
At this moment, Poch would be excellent.

At this moment, Poch would be excellent.
It's his third season in Serie A. He's relatively young, still only 45. What I really like about him is that he knows how to get under players skin and get them to be confident and always play to win. It doesn't always work for a team like Fiorentina, and it was different with Spezia in Serie A, but he has that confidence and desire to win. I can imagine it being very successful with a much better squad like Milan. The fundamentals of what we're looking for are all there. He helped develop Vlahovic before he was sold for a record fee for Fiorentina. He's been playing a very similar style of football to the one we aim to play and have built a squad to perform. He doesn't insist on players with 'guarantees'. He's cheap and he's hungry.

I somehow doubt RedBird with the moneyball mentality would go for Poch. I also think there's a big advantage to hiring an Italian, mostly for the language and for familiarity with Serie A. It's one less unknown risk factor. They'll also care about value for money and Poch I think will probably be too risky for what we have to pay.

You won't see Italiano play catapult football, we'll always have the ball on the ground and there will be patterns of attacking play on the wings. That's how he plays. I'm almost sure that if he's the coach next season that he'll play CDK up front as a false nine, and we'll get a RW that can cut inside. If not, then definitely CDK on the right at least. He doesn't play a purely attacking AM, it's always 3 in the middle.

He's very similar to Pioli in a lot of ways. That's not a bad thing, Pioli built this side and won. We're just stagnating tactically and he's losing his understanding for why this side was so good last season. Having someone similar is good for continuity, we don't want to restart and rebuild everything. Italiano is the best moneyball choice in my mind, both in terms of cost and the fact that he can probably get the most out of the players we have and the player's we'll get (more young guys, no superstars).

Well if we exclude all the high profile managers then i dont care. We just cant keep managers that dont have a plan b or c or are just so slow to execute changes.

Ideas get old real fast in top flight and you get "discovered" thats the time you need to change and be progressive.

I thought padre could grow more with the squad after last season but dementia struck him hard.

I like Italiano a lot too. But, there is a risk it could also go sideways ala GP.

In my view, whether we get top 4 or not, Pioli has to go. If we are going to continue with a youth focused approach, we need a coach who is unafraid to integrate youth early and often.

In addition, young players need a clear tactical framework in which to play, where they have key duties to perform with and without the ball, in transition, as well as some mechanized plays which are run in the training ground.

Pioli, in my view is very weak in the this regard. We seem to be “winging” most of our attacks without any clear or coherent build up pattern. Very hard for a young guy to succeed in these conditions.

Realistically we keep Pioli if we get top 4 though, given how conservatively we have been run off late. What a setback it would be if we don’t. It would certainly mean the end of Leao, but what about other top guys like Theo and Maignan?

Brah , you were in a hurry to say that you never said what we were poking you about yet our poking was in reply about you poking us of something that never was said.

But...

Real Madrid had the best players in the world yet collapsed when they lost an uderappreciated Makelele.
Obviously you dont know how important was Kess for us.

I do remember you railed on his one goal per attempt but you sir are correct - other people made the argument we are meming.

But I stand by 'give him a little protection and he could do a job' which he did :proud: - Our defense was so laughably bad it didnt matter as we now can see once Super Saiyan Mike returned. As soon we play different we ship goals even superheroes arent saving.

True that, I vented a lot of my frustration and desperation in January through blaming Tata, ngl. Point taken

It's weird how the magical feeling of watching Milan play has just totally disappeared. It topped last season as I could not concentrate at work Monday morning because I was already thinking of the next game.

Now, I don't care if an international break means that two weeks will pass. Heck, if the Serie A season just ended now, I would be satisfied. There's no motivation in the squad longer, no optimism, and no players giving their 100% anymore. Everyone has lost their faith it seems. The Milan channel and Zlatan himself promote the fact that Zlatan is now the oldest goal scorer in Serie A, but we are in a crisis, and we just lost 3-1 to Udinese. That is just embarrassing.

Conte set to leave Spurs this week. Would you take him at Milan instead of Pioli during the international break?
I'll take him. He doesn't give two fooks when it comes to talking shit about owners and sports directors.

I wouldn't mind someone putting Maldini in his place and calling him a transfer reprobate.

:o

I never really thought of it that way, lol, but that's true.

Sad. All our successful coaches became successful with us first, like Ancelotti, Capello, Sacchi etc. We never hired a proven winner. I don’t get it, even Lazio/Roma hired proven coaches like Sarri/Mourinho but we never lmao…

I'd take Saachi, Capello or even Conte for the rest of the season if it gets us top 4.

Without top 4 our progress comes to an abrupt holt.

I don't want to watch anymore of the current football the team is producing. It is absolutely shocking.

We've had our injuries but our squad is good enough for top 4. If we fail which is looking increasingly likely Pioli must be shown the door. Tactically we are all over the place. We have no plan and 3 at the back at home to Salernitana was ridiculous.

If Pioli is to be sacked before the end of the season it should be done now to give a new coach the international break to get things moving.

I hope Gerry can sell some bench in players at the end of the season.
Some players are good but if they don’t fit our system….it’s just sad to keep them.
Rebic for example, I love him. His spirit is awesome, but he is really inconsistent and injured a lot.

People blowing their load for Conte when we don't have the money to sign him let alone the 500m of players he would need to stop him having a tantrum from Day 1. Let alone another tantrum after not winning a game and throwing every player under the bus.

Didn't we learn our lesson?

Simone Inzaghi is unlikely to continue at Inter next season, according to Di Marzio.

Hes one of my favorites for post Pioli. This guy is good at cup tournaments. I think he can win CL ( maybe even this season )

I like the idea of Italiano if Padre ends up failing our objectives and earns a sacking. Can never see us going for some big name or a foreign unknown non-Italian speaking coach unless it's someone they already have some kind of relation with.

Conte I wouldn't touch with a ten inch pole.

Unless Italiano magically grows a full head of natural hair, pass.

To meet the requirements you have to:

1) Be Italian and have hair
2) Be foreign, bald or not
3) Not be a fraud

Pioli does not meet 1 or 2, and is barely hanging onto 3 if not for a so-far successful CL campaign.

Damn, do I have more negative things to say about Pioli?
I’ll think about it, maybe I’ll come up with something later.
