Schurrs is out for the season with an ACL.
I rate this guy very highly. how bad does that injury effect a CB?
Surely he can be bought in the summer for half the price that teams were being quoted in the summer of 2023.
It takes like 9 months to a year to come back from an ACL tear, depending on severity. But even when you come back, there's the mental side of things and you see even great players take time to really get back to themselves.

VVD took time to really be himself again after his tear, so it'd be a risky move, I think.

I actually really rate our CB unit, and I was hoping for Pellegrino to add to our selection headache. It was sad because before he got injured I felt like we were seeing Kalulu slowly pick up form, and then to see Pellegrino break a bone in his foot, it really sucks.

Kalulu and Thiaw are two really strong CB talents. I think CB and CM (like a true central midfielder rather than mezzala) are the two positions that require the most experience, and our CBs, in particular, are really young. I think if Kjaer leaves this summer, we should be looking to add a CB who has a little more experience to complement our young trio of CBs rather than add yet another prospect.

Is Christian Falk a reliable journalist? He is linking us with Thomas Muller, his contract expires in 2024, but he is trying to extend it another year.

I imagine it is just the sort of rumor that is put out there to get what he wants (to stay at Bayern) but seeing how Pioli is returning us to playing a 4231 again, would you say no to Muller?

Gabbia needed to play week-in, week-out. Not just to develop, but also so we can assess what sort of talent he really has to see what sort of ceiling he has. Maybe he becomes an asset to sell? Maybe he is a late bloomer? He wasn't going to get significant minutes here.

Pellegrino getting such a serious injury in his debut appearance really sucks, on top of that being one of the worst spots to bring him on. Feel bad for the kid.
Has he been bad recently? I thought he is having a contained renaissance in Villareal, but apparently he got "discovered" and is downgraded to a supporting role in the squad.
His last game in Lega against A Bilbao he was substituted in 45' after a yellow and his team taking 3 goals in the first 30 min, and haven't played since. Sounds his typical disastrous black out performance we are all well acquainted to.

I have no idea how Gabbia is doing at Villarreal at all.

They don't do that anymore, no more Pioli is on fire at San Siro. So great I didn't have to hear it last week, made San Siro more enjoyable :lol::lol:

6.6 on whoscored with half of matches on the bench and some starting from the 60' minute

Europa league isn’t for milan and milan isn’t for europa league… ffs seville, juve and inter are that competition’s most successful clubs
Not sure what this has to do with saying we aren’t good enough to confidently say we can win it.

I cannot stand Müller so I would happily say no
Objectively he could be ok on a free transfer but he is a very limited system player and also past his prime.

I doubt he'll come here, but he's a very smart player, you have to give him that. Even if he has one of the most annoying faces in football history, lol.

Why are we not all over this? What is the point of having Moncada making decisions when gems (apparently) like this are available for 10 m and we are not even part of the discussion?

Every young player that is transferred from that region is labeled a wonderkid to be fair

Benfica and Porto do a really good job of showcasing talent to get bigger moves, I think that has to play a big part to these players decision making. I also think Benfica and Porto are better at the financial packaging that makes these deals so complex, they seem to be more comfortable with them than other clubs.

He will start at Benfica. He would not start here. There's a big difference between how the two clubs operate.
By this logic big teams would never land the big talents without them stopping in Portugal for a year or two, but the reality is different.

Wind back in our sails. Jovic scoring, Pulisic back to scoring. Leao fit next weekend. Two fit CBs next weekend!

I think we're out of the hole. The price for this period was CL progression.
Out of the hole beause we beat a relegation side at home who hadn't won their last five games?

They will just create more holes in other positions to 'fill' those positions

6 points after Maignan saving a last minute equalizer with his nose and beating a newly promoted side after a horrendous first half and another miracle save by Maignan.
As I said, we just grind results. There are some positive periods like now, there are some negative periods (Udinese, Lecce, Napoli). Luck plays a very big role in our season which is a clear indication that something is not right.

And sometimes they don't. Players know they can get playing time in Portugal vs sitting on the bench at top clubs.

Most top teams are now opting out for finished product rather than simply prospects.
