See that’s the thing with Theo

The guy plays a lot better with the national team than with us

With Leao, he has his own struggles in Portugal so maybe his ability isn’t that good.

But Theo is clearly putting more effort with France than with us, that’s why I’m more critical of him.
So playing for a better team in a different system and coach makes you play better who knew.

Lol, that is a confirmation that Musah doesn't like to play in the middle. Earlier in the season he said that he doesn't understand how to play that role, and now this shit. If that is indeed the case, our backups for Fofana and Reijnders are a wheelchair guy, a lazy second striker, a winger, and Futuro kids. This is some next level atrocious squad building. I would rather had Adli in our squad, than any of those 3.
Fact is, you should never think to change a player's natural position simply because he has some characteristics to play there.
It's just stupid squad planning.
You might as well have brought in a player who has trained all his life to play in the middle, rather than taking a RM with the characteristics to play CM/CDM and then convert him.
It's a waste of time and can fail badly.

Maybe we can use Musah as Pulisic's less technical, more bullish backup on the RW, or move Pulisic to the middle where he can do what he did in the US game: Playmake.

In a 4-4-2 or 3-4-3, Musah isn’t a terrible idea on our right hand side. We’ve seen him put in solid crosses from the right last season.

Obviously, a distant 2nd choice on the right for 4-4-2, behind Pulisic. Likely 3rd behind Chuk as well. But, him over RLC in a 3-4-3 for me… not that we ever play 3 at the back

Leonardo worked in Milan at a time when Silvio would run huge deficits out of his pockets.
Then he worked for PSG, a club with unlimited funds - basically a luxury/prestige project of the Qataris.

That's helps explain his shock that Italian clubs are owned by investors (just like 99,9% of the clubs in the world) and don't have sugar daddies anymore and now have to stand on their own feet.
Also helps explain his management style last time in Milan... Spending tons of money in mediocre players like there's no tomorrow without any underlying plan and like there would be no accountability for really bad decisions.

he played him 5 times as a RWB/RM against hellas, udinese, inter, atalanta and roma

he was deployed as a RB just two times against juve and lecce
But the fact remains that only 7 of his appearances had been from his favored area of the pitch, whereas he was being tried mainly in a position that he knows how to play, but isn't good at.

That's mismanagement of the highest order, no?
It's only a genius move if it works. Otherwise it's just a waste of time, money and results.

Sounds like confirmation that he was bought solely because he is American and then the coaching staff was left to make do.

They complain that Pulisic is tired and then make him play 70 minutes in a fucking friendly match? Great. :o
Just announced he’s coming back to Milan and skipping the next game, so he’ll get a break

For 4-2-3-1 to be balance, we need pure AM, like Hakan, Koopmeiner, or de Bruyne.

don't play striker or winger as AM, or midfielders who can't pass like RLC.

The closest player we have for AM spot is actually Reijnder.
The issue isn’t AM in my opinion, it’s DM.

While the team has a number of issues, by far the biggest has been that we never replaced Kessie and got a true ball winning DM.

A true DM playing in a pivot next to Fofana (in more of an 8 role where he can get forward a bit) with Deers at the CAM is a very solid starting midfield imo. But lacking the dominant ball winner weakens everything else.

Success Formula is simple = OUT: Zlatan, Furlani, Fonseca, Moncada. IN: Maldini, Mascara, Zinedine Zidane
Not gonna happen. Best case F&M get moved on and we get an experienced DS who actually has license to be DS

Owe an apology to whoever said maybe Poch would better understand the difficulty players like Pulisic face with international duty.

Would love if more managers approached things they way, or even better if they just did away with international breaks and had a month dedicated to international play every summer.

Im American but Im hesistant to praise Poch for this decision. Its quite easy. Pulisic has played a lot especially compared to his career before Milan. Poch is coaching one of the few "competitive" matches for him to assess players. He needs no assessment of Pulisic. He knows who he is. He needs to know what else he has and how they can be used. The Mexico match is for assessing his players. If you look at tthe roster as an American its very much the US soccer 23 from before Poch. Then he will integrate new guys from there. Im guessing Poch explained this to Christian cause I cannot see Christian wanting to miss Mexico even in a friendly (I know its not a friendly but you know whatt I mean....Nations League yawn).

Anyways. Glad Christian is gonna be exposed to a hackfest for no good reason. Plus he can have a week off and not come in tired as hell from the western hemisphere to play on the weekend. So good for Milan. We need him right now while hopefully others step it up.

That said, I just dont see how we can chase trophies outside the Cup with what we have. We would essentially need Fofana and Reijnders to be superhuman and be availabel for like 5k minutes a piece as the roster stands. Not to mention the attackers if we are gonna insist on playing both Morata and Abraham. Gotta have Tomori or someone step up next to Gabbia. Funny how I see Gabbia as indespensable today in our backline. Tomori is such a disappointment. I wonder if Thiaw gets a chance soon? I know Im desperate here.

With Puli being the best player for both club and country right now, it wouldn’t surprise me if Pochettino and Fonseca are in close contact. Getting him back early is big. Get him some rest. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets captained for the next match. He’s in peak form right now.

Would be tough after he just got bitched by half the squad :(

Leao is on fire with Portugal as he's up against Cancelo in training. In Milan? he's stuck sparring with part time farmers like Calabria & Emerson Royal.

Total disaster of a transfer. We need to send him back to Spain in January. Hopefully, he finds his La Liga form and we can recoup some money in a year or 2.

Absolute clown signing.

Will Moncada survive in his job next summer? Not sure if below 50% hit rate on expensive transfers if good enough for the abacus people.

His genius status is overrated. I don't trust us to sign a good replacement for Chuk either.
