Watching City Chelsea and that Aston Villa kid that Milan liked, went to Chelsea for like 20 mil, kid is playing very very good.

Got me thinking, a lot of us get really frustrated to see a player Milan scouted do well elsewhere, and some them definitely hit hard, like Enzo. But I’m glad our scouts have such a great eye for talent, every good scouting team can say oh we followed these guys and they exploded elsewhere. You cannot sign everyone. Plus for every player we missed on, a lot of our current players were just projects being scouted that we did pull the trigger on. We should be confident we’ll hit on more players, early on Vranckx seems to maybe be one of these guys.

Nah, I’ve always been of the opinion Redbird should release more money available to Maldini and Massara. The way I see it, Elliot first tried to spend(think Higuain, Paqueta, Piatek) and got bit by it, and Covid fucked the economy worldwide, so we had to slow down. And it made the club more efficient and creative/better at scouting. But revenues have gone up and costs have gone down, and since the team is actually good, I was surprised when we hardly spent this summer. I think we’d both agree on that.

I will however always be of the opinion that they should never pay more than a players worth, whether it’s for a youth player or for Leo Messi. That’s the shit that fucked us up in the first place, or a big part of it at least. Faivre is a funny example, he doesn’t play much for Lyon and hasn’t been very good. So yeah… and when everyone here bitched and moaned for the management to pay that extra few million for CDK, a lot of those same people are currently whining about them paying too much for CDK. There’s a flip side to your argument, you didn’t make the point you thought you did bro. I can think they should put more money into the team and still not overpay for any player.

And a random side note about having an extra keeper, like I said this is reactive, as in they’re reacting to an injury problem. Fans don’t think of this stuff but clubs do, they plan for this. Imagine if we wasted some of the budget on a dud like Faivre and then actually couldn’t afford to bring in a replacement for an injured player. Dest is trash but he was that, going into the season they surely thought Calabria florenzi and kalulu is enough. Imagine Tomori tears his acl in training tomorrow and Maldini tells Pioli, sorry dude we spent all the money in the summer, nobody new will come.
Fuck me :max:
Redbird and Elliott should keep some of you guys on retainer
Faivre turned out to be shit at Lyon. That doesn't mean that he'd have been shit for us.
Lots of attackers go to clubs that don't fit them doesn't mean that they're shit...Joao Felix, Lukaku, Werner etc.

Also it's our much praised scouting that targeted him so I'm sure they knew what they were looking for.....
Say Renato doesn't fit in at P$G, were they wrong to pursue him? Honestly now

The point still remains that we weren't willing to pay a couple extra bucks when we needed a RW and we had targeted Faivre.
We still need a RW and just got ourselves and EXTRA keeper. No amount of mental gymnastics can hide it

Leaf again man, do you just not read what I write? I literally criticized Redbird for not releasing more money into the club. But sure, they should hire me as a PR guy for them! Jesus Christ man…

God damn I still wish Ziyech would come here. He runs so much and his delivery is still great. I mean look at his World Cup.

Can’t believe there was a split camp about signing him. We’ve been linked so much I really thought he would come but I think it’s passed by now, unless he comes at some point as a free agent. I think our team would be FAR better had we gotten him.

I loved my life during Berlu era, until he let the club rot on a stake and made us the pitiful spectacle we very recently managed to redeem. Under new and current management.

He let it rot alright, but boy did he do legendary stuff before that.

I see the @General is back posting.

I'm not so sure about this.

Last time he returned it didn't go so well for the team he supported....:devilcon:

I think he’s just lumping me into the brk/Sam category by default bc my posts in general are more optimistic than whiny. So he spins what I write into what he thinks I’m trying to say. Like when I said we can criticize management for individual things by shouldn’t question their overall direction, and he literally responded “oh so we cant criticize anything they do?” Lol. Funny enough Sam and I have had our own disagreements on things. Ill defend Maldini and Massara until they prove me wrong but the jury is still out on Redbird.

Love you Leaf, not trying to talk shit about you. I just think you lump me into a box with some other people and you try to say I said some stuff when I directly went against it. I get it, we all kinda lump posters on here into certain groups whether we do it on purpose or not.

Bruh it is the club of Franco. One of the most successful state owned clubs in the history

Yup. Most forget about Real when talking about PSG, City or Newcastle being state owned.

And Spain isn't a super rich state like Qatar or Abu Dhabi. What they provided was very limited. It was nothing a billionaire couldn't provide. Before Perez sold their training ground and started buying stars and doing good commercial agreements, they were financially weaker than Milan. At one point Anelka was their top money signing!

It was the Italian clubs that were breaking transfer records before like R9 to Inter, Vieri to Lazio and then Inter, Crespo to Lazio... Inter was spending like crazy at the time. But Perez was really smart in bringing a group of big names, and marketing to the next level! And Perez started doing all this just as club football really started blowing with new cable channels, internet exploding, smartphones becoming big, social media,....etc

I actually met the dude.
How was that?

He tools like an absolute asshat every time he is on tv - It was bad when he did MS presentations but now with the Clippers he makes Elon look like old world class and sophistication.

He's been horrible before WC though. Morocco had a magnificent WC, but I don't know if we can gauge what level he's currently at by that alone. Maybe he'll have a resurgence of form after a good WC, but personally I think there's better options.

We should win cl every year but openly shitting on the most glorious period as a Milan fan. You guys are bitches. Of course there were some issues but from 1988 to 2015 it was glorious. We are never getting those 25 years again before Berlu we had 2 Cls and 2 Serie B titles.
1988 to 2007 was truly glorious and as Milan fans we should be immensely grateful. I am. However, there was nothing glorious about 2007 to 2015. We started a horrible decline, won one scudetto (as much as Elliott did in half that time), went from CL winners to being a mid table team (in a weakened Serie A), and ended on the brink of bankruptcy (after he sold the club to a clown) All that could have been avoided had Berlu operated the team as a business rather than a play thing But ... whatever.

Let's see. Leo spent a gazillion euro at PSG to win, what, a few titles in a farmer league and nothing at a European level. He was so successful there that eventually he got sacked. When he was at Milan, he paid a lot of money for useless fodder. And ... you think this is the model of success? Really?
i mean i understand being a :b:&:g: orphan but…. leo? the same idiot who did want to spend around 100mil for SMS?
the only place where this bum had any success was at psg with an unlimited budget and even there he got kicked out.

It could have been avoided but literally all clubs have bad periods, you have to remember that. And as bad as our banter era was, other clubs have had longer runs of being shit and if we stay competitive for a few more years nobody will even remember or care.

We weren’t dogshit from 2007 to 2020, we started our decline from being at the top in 2007 but we had a good team until 2013. We were bad for about 7 years. Liverpool had a winless streak in the epl for 30 years and some truly awful teams in that span, go look at them just ten years ago and who they signed under Dalglish/Hodgson. United since Sir Alex spent a lot more than us to be just as embarrassing at times in the last 10 years. Arsenal too, I don’t even remember the exact last year they were in the CL, and their last couple CL years we’re them getting hammered by clubs like Bayern anyway.

Nobody will ever care about how Silvio left us. Shit happens but that peak we got to witness was more than most clubs will ever see in their whole history.

Chinese brought Milan to ruins??? I don't know where you are getting this BS from?? Last year Roma made a loss of over 200 mil. That's bigger loss than any loss Millan has ever made, And they are a smaller club than Milan! And they aren't bankrupt, so how could Milan with smaller losses and bigger revenues be close to bankruptcy!!

Yohong's deals with Berlusconi was to buy the club for 750 million. Out of the 750 million, 500 million was to go to Berlusconi and 250 million to pay up Milan's debt at the time. He also took a loan of 300 mil from Elliott. When he defaulted on the loan Elliott got hold of the club. So Elliott basically got the club for 300 mil and paid another 350-400 for Milan's losses over their term and then sold it for 1.2 billion. Elliott were never going to buy Milan for 750 mil like the Chinese did! To get a club like Milan at 300 mil was a super lucky opportunity for them!!

And even before Elliott took over, Yohong had a few different offers to buy Milan from him, and payoff his debt to Elliott. For some reason, that no one knows, he didn't take the offers and took a much bigger hit by losing the club for nothing!

Now the Chinese did screw up by appointing a really shit management to run the club. Elliot did much better in that respect by having Gazidis, Maldini, Massara...

At least know the facts, before just throwing out stuff like "Milan were close to bankruptcy"? You can't go bankrupt if there are multiple multi-billion dollar groups willing to take you over and fund your expenses, as there were with Milan!!
Yeah. The Chinese defaulted on their loan. That is perfectly fine, nothing to do with bankruptcy. Rather, it indicates that the financial situation for both Yohong and Milan was real grand.

Jokes aside, when Elliott took over they could have easily sold the assets and dissolved the club. In fact, many Milan fans (posting in Italian sites) feared it would happen. We got real lucky in that Elliott felt they could make more money by investing further. But the decision to invest was not "a given" (one of the basics of US investors is "do not throw good money after bad money"). Truly, we dodged a bullet.

But keep believing that the Chinese ownership was great for us.

Its a crime not to give Vran more chances.
Now playing Adli or Thiaw isnt the same since we have them.
Vran is on an option & we really need to evaluate him because if he is legit then his option is a steal.

Maldini would have been in juve by 1990 if Berlu wasn’t Milan’s owner:o
Everyone appreciates B&G’s Milan it was the last decade was a downward spiral. Before that they were amazing owners they revolutionised the ownership of club football.
